According the "rules" a student becomes a perspective "student athlete" when said student enters Grade 9. He must have taken "How to skirt most rules" while taking his bachelor degree in Leisure Service Management from Fresno State in 1998 where in addition to football, he played basketball and baseball.

Like I said, the rules only apply to kids in grade9, when they become perspective student-athletes. So as it stands right now, Kiffin can call him anytime he likes.
