Kiffin accepted a verbal from an 8th grader last season while at Tennessee, this isn't the first time this has happened.

Like I said, the rules only apply to kids in grade9, when they become perspective student-athletes. So as it stands right now, Kiffin can call him anytime he likes.

Aktually, Kiffen is not allowed to telephone him. His QB mentor, Sampson, told Kiffen about him, then Kiffen told Sampson to have the kid telephone him, where he offered the kid and he verballed. I forget where I saw the story, but it's out there.

I've been reading on this kid.

Steve Clarkson believes he is going to be the most celebrated QB prospect in history before he's through. It'll be very tough to top the ridiculous Clausen hype, however.

Could you imagine the numbers Clausen would have put up at USC?

David Sills and family react to USC commitment - ESPN

"Steve called me and I didn't even take the call because I was at a job site," said Sills' father, who is a commercial developer and contractor. "So I called him back and he said, 'You're never going to believe it.' He was talking to Lane about some junior quarterbacks and potential recruits who were juniors and he said, 'Look, I gave you Matt Leinart, I gave you Matt Barkley, you trust me and we've known each other for a long time and if you really want to look at a kid you need to look at this kid from Delaware.' So Lane looked at the video, called Steve back and said, 'I'll offer that kid a scholarship right now.' Steve told us that he couldn't call us so we had to call him and gave us his number."

Sills sat down with his parents and discussed the offer before calling Kiffin. But it didn't long for them to decide that USC was the right school. It wasn't a surprise considering Clarkson, who has USC memorabilia throughout his office, had taken Sills to USC games, introduced him to Pete Carroll after watching spring practices and brought in Leinart and Barkley to work with him.

Here ya go NDinLA....

Could Clarkson be considered a booster for USC? If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat...

...pretty sure Laynie just sealed this kid's fate...

assume the has the physical gifts (size, speed)...

So how many brutal shots is he going to take before he gets to take a snap at SC? Most of you guys have played the game...when I faced off against a blue chipper, I was on fire to light him up (although alot of times I ended up looking at the lights or face down with turf in my face)...can't even imagine the bullseye this kid will have on him.

Even if he makes it through that frikin gauntlet, how will he handle the insane pressure to train and perform....the expectations will be insane.

Odds are he doesn't make SC's campus because of injury or meltdown...sad.

Good points man. If it's not a cheap shot b/c of the target on his back, then it might just be the bad karma of committing to such a slimy guy...

The best part of one of the above articles: "It didn't take long to decide that USC was the right school for him."

He's not even in high school. His freshman season of college is six years away. Kiffin will either be fired or will have fled to the NFL by the time he graduates from high school.
