“there is plenty of buzz around Lopati being the next man up to be offered by the Notre Dame staff…The Irish staff is expected to make a run here.”

Trivia time… last QB from Utah that ND signed?
Well. you'll need to scroll to page 42 of the 1960 ND Scholastic Football Review article on the '60 ND Frosh squad (linked below) for proof -

the only QB from Utah to Notre Dame was Jay Gamble from Salt Lake City Utah

Gamble transferred from ND & finished at Utah

There have been numerous ND players from Utah through the years, but I believe Gamble was the only QB

Somoygi-esque level of ND history.

I tip my cap to you.

Gamble came to Notre Dame after my junior year. Unfortunately for him, Joe Kuharich was the coach (and mightily failing) and pinned his future to the "elephant backfield" that he bragged about in recruiting. This group of newcomers was to feature Jim Snowden (NFL offensive tackle) at fullback, some huge NFL Tight End whose name slips my mind just now (Paul Costa?) at halfback, a guy named Rutkowski at the other halfback, and Frank Budka at quarterback. It probably didn't take Gamble long to figure out that he wasn't playing over Daryle Lamonica (the current QB), nor Budka ... so he wisely left.

Soon Kuharich realized that elephants belong on the line-of-scrimmage and got fired and a new coach from Northwestern was brought in ... who WAS that new guy anyway?

Seems like he’s gonna be the guy unless Davidson Starts picking up the pace of his decision

Shine wore off with Champ Monds?
I think Monds seems to be more likely to end up local, purely based on vibes. Davidson plays for an ND-friendly program and Lopati is already committed to a school halfway across the country

ND seems to feel pretty good from all accounts. Reminds me of Jordan Love.

Must've turned it into a bidding war maybe. I'm fine backing out if that's the case.
