No, they’re still valid concerns. Hope he balls out, but our recent history of athletic qbs that come to nd isn’t great
I won't disagree with that, but that was the Brian Kelly era. We have a new coaching staff whom I will give the benefit of the doubt to until they prove me wrong.

The tools are there. This kid is gifted physically.

Get him into the program, give him a few years to learn, and hopefully he blossoms.

Excited to have Knight. I'd love to see him work on developing his ability to read a defense. I'm scarred from QBs who were good athletes who couldn't read a defense/execute a plan without ad-libbing. That will only get you so far. He's got all the measurables you could ask for+

Can they flip Scott or is it we are looking at Beasley flip and Lambert commit? They have to take care of the Chicago market better. Taylor is a high priority get I hope.

Is anyone else in agreement to start leaning towards the WR problem the last few years was partially because of the QB's
We'll find out in about 5 days, but least to some extent yes.

It's got to be a little humiliating for Bachmeier but he'll be fine. He was planning to visit places like Oregon and Michigan still anyway, right? He will have good options.
With Underwood trending towards Colorado, hopefully Bear commits to Michigan... and then takes the Oregon bag on signing day and leaves them high and dry.

Ok, just saw ISDs film cuts from Deuce's game. I was mistaken about his ability. He looks really calm/poised in the pocket. I'd like to see him make quicker decisions but man he's got an arm and has the ability to put touch on his passes. I think he's got max'd potential given his attributes. If he can set his feet and keep his mechanics, then he can make any throw you want.

Saw him put the ball into some really tight windows and saw him miss a couple that were open. Really like where he is and where he'll be in a year+.

Also anxious to see how he can pick up reading defenses and knowing where the play should go…….although that won’t really be evident until he reaches ND.

One thing i love about the Deuce commitment, is that he's the perfect high ceiling prospect to land after some high floor guys in Minchey and Carr.

Knight will need some time and reps to continue his development, especially with the transfer back home and losing out on 1/2 a season in his junior year. But the ceiling on his ability is the perfect compliment to ND's qb room.

Just a perfect play by Freeman, Parker, Gino and Bowden.

Part of me sees the amount of times he visited Ole Miss, Miss State and Tennessee, then thinks he saw all he could see more than enough and didn't choose any of them. I just look at him and see an incredibly raw but talented guy. It's not terribly difficult to poke and prod his game because he's so young and so far from being the finished product. I just love that he's a lefty and he looks like a prototypical HS QB that is going to be able to play in modern offenses. With that said, if he's playing under Freeman at ND, he's going to have a running game and tight ends to help out.

I still don't get terribly excited about verbal commitments, public or otherwise, but I do get the sense that strategy and approach when it comes to recruiting have changed drastically under Marcus Freeman and for the better. I think they learned from some mistakes they've made and are going to press forward with the effort and sense of urgency to change what they can and endure whatever they cannot but they're going to work and make the effort.

My ptsd fandom immediately thinks, "I hope he doesn't flip after Bear is solid elsewhere,..." I can't help who I am,....
It's what everyone is thinking wether they admit it or not.
Hard to pull these top kids from that deep south, especially when the NiL schools com calling in the final hours.

I’d rather have his commitment than not. With Minchey and Carr we have a good foundation, that’s the perfect class to swing for a game breaking talent we normally can’t land.

Bowden called him last week and told him to flip a coin. ND is heads, but it doesn't matter what side the coin eventually lands on. In your mind, what side are you actually hoping it lands on? If you're hoping its heads, thats where your hearts at

All paraphrasing here.

Deuce was hoping it was heads and committed shortly after. (it did land heads)

Weird shit, but it worked.

This is a very common decision making strategy. It tells you where your heart is just by how you anticipate or hope the coin lands, even without looking at the results of the flip. There was a funny Big Bang Theory episode about it when Sheldon cant decide between the Xbox and PS, but yea it's been around for a while.

This is a similar story to Caleb Kelly I think. He flipped a coin and it landed on NDs side but he was disappointed it wasn't Oklahoma's side. And thats when he knew he should go to OU.

Apologies if this has already been covered.
Best recruit ever from Mississippi to go to Notre Dame?

Any of the older guys on here know how big of recruit Jarious Jackson was?
Regardless, great job by the staff to pull this kid from Dixie country.

Here is from the late, legendary Lou S. on the subject a few years ago.

This makes me feel like the need to keep recruiting the Bear.

You have two choices and can't decide. Flip a coin. If you are disappointed that it landed a certain way, it tends you what you actually wanted. Same if you are happy with how it landed.

There is head and heart. My heart wanted a 2008 f150 with only 32,000 miles for 8,500 today.
My head realized it only gets 16 mpg and I drive 52 miles round trip to work and back. Gas is $4 a gallon.

Still a bit torn. An old lady who recently passed away at age 66 owned it.
