From Page 1 & 2 - Let's remember what Justin was as a prospect early in.

Justin not developing was bad luck, taking Daniel Anderson was the reach / mistake.

I was actually thinking earlier today about my initial reaction to his commitment. How far we’ve come!

This is NOT at you Jigg,,,just using ur post.....Recruiting is EXACTLY that....TONS of info even the talking heads don't even get but a lot of info is not able to be shared as they are "off the record"....unfortunately this site used to get and still does at times have info but the amount of just loud mouth, complaining like on twitter/facebook etc is really annoying anymore....people just don't have a f'ing clue and are yelling DMC, MF etc are taking low hanging fruit etc---U don't have a clue
I would tend to agree with you.

I think there is a level of frustration among this fanbase that this program hasn't won a championship since 1988 and is currently struggling to sign five star players in someone's "Top 100", which would ultimately help Notre Dame win another championship sooner than later. Those are both true statements however you want to slice and dice it. The results, regardless of how the university chooses to conduct themselves with their football program, is not due to a lack of effort as far as I'm concerned. We've seen what "mailing it in" looks like and that was twenty years ago right around now that Tyrone Willingham was let go.

I have a very hard time believing this staff is incompetent and lazy when it comes to recruiting. I think much of that comes from frustration with the perceived quality of the players Marcus Freeman has been bringing in and is born out of frustration. I want to see the final class when all is said and done before making any kind of criticisms or praise at the coaching staff collectively or individually.

But if we wait until signing day to criticize, Marcus won't have time to use the boards' collective wisdom on whom to recruit!

I feel like 1 RB is plenty. In two years one of Love/Price will probably still be here, and our two freshman RBs who appear to be studs need theirs too.
I'd be shocked if Price or Love are here in 2026. Price will have graduated and Love has been one of the top RBs in the country as a sophomore. Another year like this, and he's definitely off to the league.

So going into 2026, you're likely going to have Williams, Young and James as your returning backs, barring no injuries or transfers. Not exactly a stable situation. You basically would then HAVE to land 2 guys in 2026 and hope that nobody transfers or gets hurt.

Ultimately the quality of the class can only be judged years later.

The university has not had a replenishing of talent problem for most positions in the end of Kelly thru Freeman era. WR and QB have been biggest struggles. Although have at least made big attempts at qb for two years now.

They are behaving as if they want to be part of the big boys.

I'm more concerned going forward about ability to build championship level depth with portal era HS kids going forward.

Spot on. All of this post. I think it is reality and our frustrations as fans (some more than others) cloud our judgment some.

QB and WR are where they need to get better. I don't know that behaving like a big boy means giving Bryce Underwood $15M. If that's the behavior our fans are looking for, maybe seeking allegiance somewhere else might be a better idea for them.

Kirby Smart recently commented that depth has been an issue he's noticed hit multiple programs in this era. I think that and the conference realignment have maybe evened things out a bit.

I would add DT. I feel like good evaluation and good coaching have helped ND overachieve, but they need an unblockable behemoth or 2.

That's fine, but the program has two WR in the League right now. Kevin Austin and Skowronek. ZERO quarterbacks.

At present they have three DT in the League: Day, Hinish and Tillery.

ONE defense end: Foskey.

Boggles the mind.

I thought ESB played for the Saints? And isn’t Romeo hanging on somewhere?

Off the top of my head, Julian Okwara and JJB are on rosters. Sheldon Day is on the Commanders. Kurt Hinish is on the Texans.

Edit: forgot Romeo retired this year
