Very true, not to mention Florida being on the books for Mullen, looks like they'll have to bite the bullet for at least another season with Napier. Money owed combined with no employed coach candidate to jump shit = S.O.L

From what I’ve seen, the buyout left on Mullen is peanuts.

He was owed $12 million. They gave him six mil upfront then an additional 1 mil every July thru 2027.

Think it's $26 million. And with the mess left because of Sasse's messy exit as president of the university, they weren't paying that unless they knew they were getting a big fish.

My guess is they placed feelers to Kiffin and Cignetti and were told no.

Imagine though, going to your BOT and telling them you want to fire ANOTHER Coach early, and owe him money too, asking them to write large checks to three coaches, all at the same time, two of which don’t work for you.
Not good.

Yeah no, Loy is on something if he thinks Napier being retained helps.

Anybody with 2 eyes can see that, best case scenario, he's looking at a 6-6 season, and his third consecutive non-winning season. Why would you want to join a program with a coach who would be going into 2025 basically a bad loss away from getting the axe? They really think things have changed because they beat a horrible Kentucky team and had two moderately competitive games against Tennessee and Georgia?

If this guy is at Rickards and is eligible to enroll at ND, then they better lock him up because ND will never get many from there. It means he is probably a studious kid and a hard worker.

IF he is eligible.

I don't think eligibility will be an issue since he has offers from Stanford and Duke as well.

Yeah. Thanks admissions. Way to screw the program whenever you can.

Lol, Vanderbilt not good enough for ND.
This is how you know the more things change, the more they stay the same. Good luck to Freeman and staff dealing with that...

Wasn't Hillman's problem that he had not met our very specific foreign language requirement? He simply hadn't taken two semesters of Spanish or whatever it is before he graduated from high school. (which is why he flipped in the spring after signing his NLI). Nothing to do with his academic aptitude or whether he'd get into Vanderbilt or whereever.

That's always going to be a risk with recruits we're not in with before their senior year of high school. They might not have time left to take the classes they need. Could be here, too I suppose. Hopefully we do our homework.

Talking out of your ass is one thing but typing out of your ass is on a whole new level.

Thanks

Did anyone throw down a CB yet?
I don't think so. To me, this seems like one where he's very comfortable with his choice in Florida and needs to decide if he really wants to back out and go to ND. He's also visiting Florida this coming weekend, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him firm up his commitment to Florida after this visit.

He'd have to be comfortable with his choice if it's UF, because there's very little chance he ends up playing for the staff that is recruiting him to Gainesville.

I don't know how anybody can watch that abysmal display last Saturday in Austin and think that Napier is going to make it past early October of next year.

The fact that Florida even considered bringing him back when they're 4-5 and on the verge of their 3rd consecutive losing season under Napier is a testament to the sheer incompetence in Gainesville.

They seriously looked at the last few weeks where they didn't look like a complete dumpster fire in some respectful losses to Tennessee and Georgia, and then beat one of the worst teams in the SEC in Kentucky, and said that this is what they wanted moving forward?

They said yes, and then immediately realized how stupid a decision they made when Texas obliterated them in a game that wasn't even as close as the 32 point margin indicated.

Looking into it, the only reason Napier is still employed is because Florida's AD is basically glued to the hip of Napier, and Florida's president stepped down earlier this year, and they haven't pegged a new president. So, it sounds like they're essentially putting it off so the new president can make the decision next year when they're in place.

Which sounds reasonable...from Florida's perspective, but if I'm Wiggins, why would I want to gamble my collegiate career on a program with so much uncertainty moving forward?
