Was about to bump this thread for something completely separate. Nate Tice on the Andy & *** show said he thinks Carr is a Round 3 or 4 QB

Throws a nice spiral but no elite tools

He had Klubnik, Sellers and Nussmeier (and Mendoza tbf) as 1st rounders this time last year

This time two years ago? Only first rounders at QBs were Carson Beck and Riley Leonard.
This is a good thing. since he is almost always horribly wrong we would need to be worried if he was puffing up Carr

If you tell me you’re a Sellers, AR15 tools guy. Fine I get it to a degree with Carr, but here’s a excerpt from the 2025 article, name redacted:

“I really like ______’s combination of aggressiveness, throwing creativity, anticipation, and ability to avoid sacks. His size is just average for the position, so I will be curious what his weight would be in the pre-draft cycle. But he has a real understanding for playing the position, is a better athlete than his rushing numbers indicate, and has performed in clutch moments for ___. He still has to rein in some of his devil-may-care tendencies, but _____ handled a lot in that ______ offense and was often very good while doing so. He is just a lot of fun to watch playing quarterback.

You’re telling me this was a Top 12 pick for you and CJ Carr is a 4th rounder? GTFO

Tice is a pretty good evaluator overall, but like everyone is hit-or-miss when it comes to QB prospects. In particular, he values guys with elite traits and we can be honest that Carr lacks both elite athleticism and does not possess an elite arm for the NFL. These things will ding him for Tice and other draft evaluators, but guys like Ty Simpson, Cam Ward, and Michael Penix going fairly high in recent drafts should be some consolation.

Leonard had impressive athleticism for a QB, let's be real. The only QB this millennium who got more value from his legs was Lamar Jackson

His arm at no stage has ever been elite or even impressive. I don’t know why, but his arm strength has always lacked.

I don't disagree about his arm, though it seemed better at Duke than in South Bend. It's one reason why every post route he threw in 2024 seemed to be picked off

Tice is a numb nut
He is the same type of fool that drools over an arm and athletic ability and ignores what is between the ears
He ignores that the Joe Montana, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning ALL were not great athletes and they are arguably the three greatest to play QB in the NFL
None of them had an elite arm and Brady and Manning were statues in the pocket
you look at the top 20 QBs on any list and outside of a couple like Elway and Young, NONE of them were elite athletes

I don't know about Brady or Manning, but Joe was a fabulous athlete. He was heavily recruited in basketball out of high school and had an offer from NC State during their national title era. Good baseball player too. I recall hearing from some upperclassmen that he threw an orange from the steps of South Hall and hit the roof of Morrissey. Whether true or not......

Yep, Joe was pretty good at extending plays.

Joe was a good athlete which is why I just put Brady and Manning as statues. Joe was not that big and did not have a powerful arm. He was shifty and dodged a fair amount of sacks.
