Watched Carr pretty closely during pregame on Saturday. Was sitting in the endzone where ND was warming up.

Carr threw a few balls back and forth with Anthony Rezac before bouncing one, pointed to his arm at Rezac, then proceeded to throw every pass back to Rezac either with his left arm, or by punting it back. He did not participate in the QB/WR warmup after that, he just hung out in the back and watched.

Either he's on a SUPER limited throw count during his rehab... or he got fully dressed for the game expecting to be healthy, and then quickly found out his arm isn't ready.
Did they ever provide more details as to what happened to his arm/shoulder? I know they said it happened in practice. This is definitely concerning for the long term.

I know he wouldn't be getting "live reps" much in practice, but certainly would be getting drills. This is bad news when we're all expecting him to be the starter next year. He needed every rep and drill he could get and it sounds like he's going to miss at least 2 months of that.

This is why you don't anoint guys as the starter without knowing their health/availability.

I've said for awhile that it's no sure thing Carr is the 2025 starter, and that Kenny Minchey could win the job/deserves a shot. I stand by that.

Tbh I’d go portal hunting again. You may not find anyone better than you’ve got with interest…but it doesn’t mean you don’t at least see what’s out there.

It’s his elbow that was injured is all that I heard and he’s just now starting to throw a bit now.

So uh, we're getting a portal QB again

Almost no shot unless we're looking for a backup because we have 1 or 2 transfers. To many other needs for a team that has a chance to make a run
Who says we can’t add a QB and address those needs? I assure you if we needed to and wanted to go that route, we’d be able to find the cash.

I really hope we don't get a portal QB. At some point, you need to develop a guy who can start multiple years. With the stable of backs we have, an OL that has gotten better that will be mostly intact next season, and most of our core WRs returning, there's not a better year for a young QB to gain experience.

Lean on the strength of the ground game, and may the best QB win in fall camp.

You need to leave the door open if a super stud wants in, but otherwise I agree.
Let's roll with what we have.

Super Stud QBs aren’t doing graduate school. We have three solid QBs in the room. Let’s see what they can do.
Agreed. If we keep getting other QBs from other schools, why would any recruit come here? They'll see that they'll have no opportunity to start. Hartman and Leonard made sense to get, but we need to be working with the guys we have at some point.

I know it’s been said before, but how the hell was cj carr allowed to get hit in practice to sustain this injury? I sure hope he wasn’t “live” when it occurred. The dude is the future of your program

Since we don’t know how the injury occurred……we don’t know that he was hit. Maybe when throwing he caught his elbow on another player’s helmet or he slipped and hurt his elbow trying to brace a fall.

He threw a pick and dropped and elbow on the tackle.
