Yea I was disappointed but a friend of mine who is a St Ignatius parent confirmed the kid has issues and isn’t what he is cracked up to be. He said “kid needs guidance… talks about nice watches and cars a lot…”

1. he would not get any money but would get a scholastic scholarship for 4 years and
2. he would likely red shirt his first year and realistically that if he works his arse off he might get some time in his second year and
3. that he needs to get his grades right up and master Latin before he enrols and
4. he would need to accept a mentorship under Howard cross (or an equivalent senior) and that senior would be getting the NIL payment for working with Scott instead of Scott for at least the first year.

I get going for money but if you don’t go to a place that fits you and you aren’t passionate about you won’t reach your potential.

But if you going to a place thats fits for every other reason more outside of Football, then you have problems and end up in the portal multiple times.

he just decommitted from Nebraska two days ago. Hes predicted to join OSU's class. Because of this OSU fans kind of guessed in advance Scott was heading to Miami. Their big challenge now is to hold onto Jeremiah Smith also but it looks like hes' taking the bag to stay home and be a Hurricane

I understand that you all love to drop the "bag" comments about Miami, and in this instance you're probably right.

But Mario Cristobal is probably the second best recruiter in college football behind Kirby Smart. He demonstrated it at Bama when he was OL coach, he did it Oregon, and he's doing it at Miami. The fact that Miami decided to (finally) start investing in its program is a +1 factor to this, and the Canes will most likely finish with Top 5 classes as long as he's there.

If Mario pulls that off after going 7-5 in his second season, and having a viral moment that had him look like a complete buffoon then props to him. He really must be every bit the recruiter he is built up to be, because the results on the field and the embarrassing half empty stadium home games don't compute to a top five recruiting class.

Cristobal - rightfully so - is criticized for certain in-game decisions. (See, Georgia Tech this year). But the guy has a winning pedigree.

Wipe out the FIU years (where, I'd argue, he did very well after taking over a program that went 0-12 the year before his arrival and was effectively dead). He went 35-13 at Oregon, won a Rose Bowl and two Pac-10 championships, and recruited at a level that program never had under Chip Kelly, Mark Helfrich, or Willie Taggert.

He's an outstanding culture guy. If he stays out of his own way, lets his coordinators run the show (which he seems to be doing), and continues to recruit at the level he's capable of, I could easily see him having a Dabo-like career at Miami. The entire school is finally behind the football program (i.e., the profits generated by UMiami's excellent hospital network), and it's a very tough place to lose based on the fertile recruiting grounds surrounding Coral Gables.

Bama is an interesting case study, but these results speak for themselves: Mario Cristobal All Time Recruits. Also, while Bama would get South Florida guys before him, he effectively shut it down while he was with the Tide.

As for Oregon and Miami, it's clear that Cristobal was the reason behind their success. In the six years leading up to MC's first full recruiting haul, Oregon signed the #13, #18, #25, #17, #26, and #22 classes, according to Rivals. Cristobal's three full classes at Oregon were ranked 7th, 9th, and 3rd overall.

At Miami, Cristobal currently has a Top 5 class, and signed the #8 class last year. The six classes preceding his arrival were ranked #34, #12, #13, #35, #6 (the class signed during Richt's best season at Miami), and #11.

The guy can recruit.

Um its Miami bruh. You get a recruit in Miami you can close him. The weather, environment, beaches, girls all speak for themselves (especially relative to South Bend that is for sure). Let's not be over-romanced by ND's "Choose Hard" mantra because for many recruits being in Miami is amazing.

Also, not sure you know about the FSU v. Miami rivalry. Its actually pretty big in Florida.

It was South Beach during the 2010's and they never sniffed classes that Mario is currently getting over the last two seasons.
I just went through the 247 archives to double check, and they were were struggling to consistently have a top 15 class for most of the previous decade.
Obviously, sanctions didn't help them, but its very impressive what Mario and thier NIL have been able to produce with less then stellar performance on the actual field.

However, anyone who follows college football knows that the second Miami FL stopped playing at the Orange Bowl, and moved thier home games to Miami Gardens 20 miles away from thier campus the atmosphere greatly declined for almost all of thier home games.

Not true they also sell out for FSU. Of course half of the stadium is rooting for the visitors but details.
