If we're not going to pay recruits, at some points does someone just say "fine, but we're going to buy all the best grad transfers at positions of need"?
It’s more likely that ND says fine, we’re joining the Ivy League.

I'm not sure if people have been following, but people have been pumping the brakes on Scott as a prospect for a minute.

I would like for him to be part of the class, but the staff has been really not giving a damn about anyone's evals but their own this time around.

The staff considers him their #1 recruit on the defense.
They really aren’t going after any other DTs like him & really, really want him.

Thought recruiting was supposed to be our new thing with this staff

Notre Dame is always two steps behind modern college football. It will always be 'if it wasn't for this, we'd be right there'.

Had hope but ultimately not surprised - much of the same here.

We will not truly compete for nattys until admin fully gets on board, which they won’t.

Instead many of us will convince ourselves that this isn’t a big loss, and instead we will just put eyes on the next one.

I mean, the general consensus was that Scott was a good player, but definitely not 5-star caliber.

I'll wait to see who they ultimately end up with at DT. If they get Umeh and somebody else to go with Wafle, I'm content with that.

Landing umeh is much less likely than landing Scott imo

Umeh certainly doesn’t feel as easy as it did when he was first offered.

This may seem like sour grapes but it’s not. He’d be a good piece to a DL class. But, he’s a developmental guy. In no way shape or form is he one of the 32 best players in the class.

Now, his importance to the class does seem unusually high due to what appears to be a cloudy DT board, at the moment.

I doubt he is going to Miami. They are just the first to offer a big bit of money. He will end up at OSU or some such. Then transfer somewhere else or the like.

For everyone freaking out, he is being visited by the staff today so do not be surprised to see things flip back towards being positive for the good guys.

Way too early to freak here, imo. Given how this recruitment has played out to this point, I'd expect several more swings back and forth. No need to ride those waves fellas.

Nothing against Tom Loy, but didn't he put in 8 CB's in one day in January? Pierce (oops), Smith twins (nope), Prescod (maybe), Dorian Brew (who knows), Scott (who can tell), Tae (doesn't look like it), and someone else I can't recall. That is not much of a batting average. I am just not sure who knows what from the beat writers these days, and not sure how much we can look at what they print as overly valuable. Seems that the Gug is pretty hush on what is going on with recruiting and it seems like recruiting is taking on a different look these days. They don't seem to be pushing for early commitments. The DL and WR recruiting seem to have taken 180's from who we thought they would get to who they will get. (or maybe a 160, since Cam and Bryce seem to be locked in.)
