I agree, especially for the 23 class. We are bringing serious talent at Oline, wide receiver, running back, and tight end. I just don’t think it should be this difficult.
at some point you would think a big time QB recruit would look at NDs QB depth chart and surrounding talent and think they could be the starting QB for 3 years.

It shouldn’t.

Lol.

Pre-Rees
2011: Everett Golson 267th
2012: Gunner Kiel 26th
2013: Malik Zaire 162nd
2014: Deshone Kizer 242nd
2015: Brandon Wimbush 46th
2016: Ian Book 517th
Rees
2018: Phil Jurkovec 83rd
2019: Brendon Clark 521st
2020: Drew Pyne 225th
2021: Tyler Buchner 71st
2022: Steve Angeli 365th
2024: CJ Carr 13th

Pre-Rees average ranking was 210th. Rees era average ranking is 213th. Interesting that the only Pre-Rees QBs to finish their career at ND are Kizer and Book. Likely similar outlook for the Rees era QBs. At worst, Rees' QB recruiting is a continuation of the Kelly era.
It’s 253 without Carr. You don’t get to count guys who didn’t actually sign with ND. That’s like counting Blake Barnett who was #6 overall.

The shocker is that they aren't including Dante Moore in there.

Some of you guys have completely unrealistic expectations when it comes to QB recruiting. There are very few 5 star QBs each cycle, and they all pretty much have high NFL aspirations. They're typically going to pick a proven school that has put QBs in the NFL with success like OU, 'Bama, Ohio State, etc. The fact we even have a guy like Carr coming or someone as high as Buchner is more than we probably deserve. Consider this: there's a big reason that OL and TEs flock to ND and QBs and WRs haven't in recent years. You typically need those kinds of success stories to convince the big fish to come consistently.

That is why Kelly’s biggest blunder was putting Rees on as OC instead of the best possible/available QB guru.

Huge blunder. Double digit wins every year he's been on the staff, 2 playoff appearances, best run of Kelly's career. Awful.

Do you think Tommy’s responsible for that? Wouldn’t have happened without him? The last three DCs Kelly hired that have since become head coaches just along for the ride?

I think potentially it’s a team with many players and a staff with multiple coaches all with varying degrees of credit for good things and blame for bad.

JMO. Sorry to not be so extreme with every take.

What's your basis for this? Drew's current completion % and QBR would be records at ND if the season ended today. Rees tends to get more out of our QBs than scouting sites have them pegged for. I would say he does pretty decent.

What’s the updated per throw average?

Probably still in the between 75th to 100th in the nation. And we haven’t played really spectacular defense.

Yes I know we are gonna agree to disagree.

7.92 yards per pass attempt, which is 54th in the country.

He's got 8.2 yards per attempt in his 3 starts, 8.9 against UNC and BYU.

When I heard he might visit for the Clemson game, my first thought was Keith Marshall and John Theus. Isn't this the game Peyton Bowen is coming to? Hope I'm wrong.

How about we all agree to actually research the stat instead of just throwing something out there? I know negative people need to neg but at least find real stats to complain about.
