Well ND has QB’s in the NFL, just none that are able or willing to reach the top in the NFL. Brady Quinn was an excellent QB for ND that I will always believe would’ve done great things in the NFL had it not been for the Cleveland Browns. You are only as good as those you surround yourselves by, or so I’ve heard.

When I say willing, there’s a lot of factors I image our current NFL QB’s are looking at. Mainly I make a lot of money and therefore I’m content. Secondly, ala Brady Quinn, I’m in an environment that doesn’t promote growth and potential, so the next best thing mentality.

Brady shares some of the blame. He held out way too long and put himself behind the 8 ball. He also got super yoked hawking workout supplements and it ruined his accuracy.

I don't think Austin plays as a freshman regardless of the school he chooses. He needs some time to mature and put on some weight. I do like his release and love his ball especially on the short to mid-range throws. Once he matures, he will be a starter somewhere.

In Loy’s free preview article this morning he says Novosad’s visit is Official.
It’s an unofficial isn’t it?

Jabba the Driskell fully believes it’s UNOFFICIAL…… for whatever that’s worth

I would guess unofficial for a couple reasons:
1) It’s only one day, instead of 3 days, 2 nights
2) Freeman is allowing committed players to unofficial, not Official visit

I saw Loy said the same thing……maybe it is possible that Austin decommitted to Baylor but didn’t announce it publicly?

Dale is right you can’t take OVs in July. Saw one of the other 247 sites confirm that a few days back

Realistically, barring a Buchner injury, every QB is competing to start in the ‘24 season assuming Buchner is either good enough to go pro or bad enough to be beat out for the job. I guess there is also a weird middle ground where he’s such a dynamic runner that he dominates CFB but isn’t a pro prospect, but that seems pretty improbable.

So has he made it to campus and committed yet?

All kidding aside how much do we know about the schedule of the visits this week on regards to when are we going to hear any updates?

I’d pitch it as we don’t have many elite NFL QBs bc of Brian Kelly. I think that is clearly the reason. Before Kelly, we had plenty. And we also have the original GOAT, Joe Montana. Before Kelly it was Clausen and Quinn. And let’s not pretend like some of Rees’s pets didn’t over achieve. No way Ian Book should be on the Saints roster, but he was over developed.

If I’m Rees I’d say look, I took a 3 star 6’0 kid and developed him into a playoff QB who is now on a NFL roster he had no business being on before he met me. Imagine what I could do with real talent. And imagine what you could’ve done if you would’ve been the starter in those playoff games. It’s one thing to brag that you developed an already great RG3 or Winston, it’s another to say you developed Ian Book. Which is a more impressive job?

Really? Personally I think his being a very good college QB that doesn't project well to the pros is a pretty likely scenario.

Tim Tebow scenario
Tebow was a SPECTACULAR college QB for his era (Alabama and others had not yet gone full tilt passing)

He was the backup for Leak in '06 (but made key plays)
and led the '08 National Champions.

Two NCS?
Pro performance is irrelevant, as it was for Huarte.

colleges invented football.

He didn't sound starstruck or in love so I got the strong impression it's Baylor or TAMU.

I haven't had my coffee yet this morning so could be way off.

I wonder if CJ Carr being there killed some of the vibes for Novosad?

Sounded like CJ spent a lot of time with the other commits and some 2024s whereas Novosad was in meetings and such. He said he liked CJ and mentioned QB room chemistry
