Also side bar. Big irish invasion weekend and between IB and lucky lefty you got like 8 hours of content. That content includes all of the participants smiling happy and clearly enjoying it. Irish illustrated no new poscast, ISD finally gets 44 minutes out today(a day late and a dollar short) and that Singer audio challenge bicker garbage nothing yet. Bobby said it content is king. But not just that, the main pay sites (not Eric Hanson) one just seem so miserable podcasting like a necessary evil. Where say what you will about IB at least they want to be doing it. And finally Freeman at ISD and Singer, their attitudes suck. They come off as disinterested and self important and give nothing more than you get from a tribune article and grouse that fan’s question or fixate on things.

Singer hates you & me & all ND fans.
He constantly belittles his subscribers, drops snarky comments for no reason, and badmouths his board to others.
There are lots of people who have messages from him where he complains about ND fans. He annoys other mods on his site because when they talk he just complains about his own subscribers.
Dude puts in a half-ass job & barely covers any events, camps, games & just calls kids instead of meeting them at ND.

Bottom line is he can’t stand ND fans & is annoyed he has to deal with them.

Agreed and just a tremendous travesty that he was the final podcasting and content partner with the great Lou

The main pay sites always seem to have the exact same group think and then the IB guys and Lucky Lefty have different enough that I am beginning to wonder if the less plugged in ones using more common sense aren’t getting to be more accurate in a way
Thats because the pay sites are insiders that actually get information from people in the program.

Driskell is an "analyst" who just regurgitates everything from the pay sites like he has inside info. Then adds his thoughts.

I think its equally likely the “insiders” are fed/manipulated to some degree for attempts at program benefit which I am not opposed to but after a couple years now of IB/LL and starting off pretty skeptical I think their hit rate is better, content is better, and attitude is way better. Probably a bit of an age thing too. The youngers respond bettee to lazy arrogant asshole bc well I am sure we can figure out the bc

I've gotten to the point where I skip The Brian Kelly Was Mean To Mean to Me sections to just get to the 20 min that Ryan Roberts is allowed to speak.

Typical IB Therapy Session
1) 15 min of superchats asking for prayers and we'll wishes (sort of bizarre concept to send a football guy money to give you condolences)

2)15 min of comparing himself to D1 elite recruits. Personal favorite was comparing his growth from 16 to 17 and what to expect for CJ. Kind of like comparing my use of Facebook to how Mark Zuckerberg uses Facebook.

3) 30 min of how Brian Kelly was an average coach and how he could have done a better job. Additionally, he's gone on record to say he would be better than BVG. Obviously BVG was a bum, but a D3 WR coach? Lol no shot.

4) 30 min of YouTube questions which sometimes he allows Ryan to speak.

5) 15 min of closing comments about joining a message board that feels like a early 2000s chat room. Won't go on to spoil a recruits decision to maintain credibility by making a prediction l o l.

I’ve heard him actually say BK deserves no credit for ND’s success, it was all Swarbrick & his assistant coaches that Jack hired.

He actually does think he knows more offense than BK.

He thinks other coaches only praise BK & vote for him for awards because they really think he stinks & don’t want him fired.

And yes, I try to fast forward past the BK rants but they just pop up out of nowhere & go on forever.

Driskell just said that people he has talked to say that the staff views Jagusah, Paige, and Freeling pretty much equally. It sounds like they'd take the first 2 that would commit, but if Freeling is the last one to decide the staff could make an exception to the rule depending on what else happens.
I may be off here but I think Freelong is probably the highest take of the theee. If he is last to want in I think someone has to make way

Just saw he was committing today. I definitely want the back story on this one.

My personal theory is that Loy leaked that the staff preferred Elijah Paige over him and that turned him off. I believe we were that favorites at the time of the leak

So he eliminated a school because of a rumor without speaking to the staff? If it's that, or something similar, then I don't think he would've been a great fit at ND.

Freeling was considering multiple options seriously and ND had no reason not to take "bird in hand." ND filled up on OL, simple as that. He liked ND a lot but also like Clemson and Georgia. There is nothing wrong about him wanting to extend his recruiting process and there is also nothing wrong with ND filling up their spots.

What if it wasn't entirely a rumor and he did have conversations with the staff about it? I guess we will find out alot more in the next 24 hours so we shouldn't need to speculate too much
so when he picks georgia what exactly are we going to find out?

But ND should get all of the guys, and if a kid makes his own decision and likes a school better then ND, then we screwed up, or someone gave him more money.

That is not what I am saying at all on this one. Of course ND is going to miss on kids or not be the perfect fit or they prefer other schools over this us.

Something happened behind the scenes on this one though. You dont go from the favorite or tied for favorite then overnight you aren't even a consideration without a story behind it.

Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. You nor anyone on this board knows why, nor should they know why. Maybe he got paid, maybe he thought HH was a dbag, or maybe, just maybe, he like the idea of ND and when he put ND up against other schools, it just wasn't a fit.

Who gives a shit, kid is making a choice for him. You don't need to know why just to make yourself feel better and ND doesn't always screw up becuase you want them to.

Why so you keep reitterating on both your post that I have any problems with kids making a personal choice for themselves when I never came close to saying that. These are 17 year old kids making their personal decision and their lives

However if my theory is correct and a reporter leaked information that was suppose to stay private with the coaches and that negatively impacted his recruitment that is a major problem. It would be the second time this class that what was reported on the beat damaged a recruitment
Even if that’s true, Loy’s job is to report what he knows to his paying subscribers, not act as some auxiliary member of the program’s recruiting operation.

I realize he and (many) others in the recruiting game don’t always adhere to the strictest of journalism ethics but reporters don’t generally “leak information,” they are they ones to whom people leak information. So the problem would lie with Loy’s source on this one.

There was also some issue with his high school losing credentialing which the release of that information coincided very contemporaneously to the he and Notre Dame not being a fit anymore

Why you so interested or concerned about Loy leaking to his subscribers? IB screws up all the time too but I wouldn’t hang a recruiting loss on those hacks too.

I disagree, If he is reporting something that is harmful to a recruitment that the coaches do not want in the public then he should be cut off from that information.

It don't care if its Loy or IB or anyone on the beat. If you are reporting something that is harmful to a recruitment you shouldn't be reporting it.
Of all the ND Analysts Loy has been fairly well respected. I can't imagine Loy doing something like that. Just think about it. Why would Loy who dedicates a lot of what he does to see ND be successful tell a recruit that he was passed over? That sounds pretty illogical and dumb on the face of it.

While dumb for their careers and access, beat writers don't owe the program anything, they don't owe the kids anything. The only people they owe anything to is their paid subscribers. If you don't like it, to bad... grow up

That's just not how journalism works. Loy works for his readers, not the football program. If he learns things about recruitments he should report them. That's his entire job. If the program doesn't want things out there about various recruitments, they shouldn't tell him. If he gets it from other sources, that's fair game.
Of course there's some give and take with this stuff but in general I'd put any blame for this theoretical scenario you're describing with Freeling on the staff not on the reporter.

To follow up on this, IMO, Elijah Paige has the best pass blocking film that I've seen. Freeling may end up a better prospect but they loved Paige after watching him workout and I can't say I disagree. He's a very advanced pass blocker.
