The talk of the town on the beat, from the Master List thread:

Per Loy, here’s a name to watch. Possibly as a 5th DB, 3rd S.

Jamie U at ISD mentioned him too. He’s pretty high on him.

In Loy’s Who’s Next article below he mentions Minich again. Says that he’s expected to be offered and he likes ND to win it.

“He followed his impressive junior season on the field with terrific elite camp performances and outstanding track and field context, including a wind-aided 10.47 100 and wind-legal times of 10.77, 10.96, 10.98, and 11.00. Minich, who adds basketball to his athletic profile, also ran a wind-aided 21.91 200 and wind-legal reps of 22.22, 22.26, 22.34, and 22.37.”

Minich on the far left and Malik Hartford next to him. Hartford (who we pursued, committed to OSU) is listed at 6’2/6’3 175.

I don’t remember his exact words, but Loy would be surprised if he didn’t end up being a 4 star

I don’t mind when track times are used as an addition to on the football field evaluation, but I kinda hate handing out 4 stars because of track times. Like the 4 star breakdown above is mostly track talk and Gabe throws in some “he uses that speed to close fast” football talk. I prefer Sinclair’s breakdown of good football player, speed is the bonus.

He does seem really fast. His limited height/weight is the only question. Surely we can find a way to use a guy with this speed.

If he clicks with the staff and the staff likes what they see……Ben is likely Irish ☘️

Compare his profile pic to others online - looks like he's on an anabolic diet.

I know their playing styles are different but I see white, undersized, and under-ranked from Ohio and I instantly thought of Kyle McCarthy.

They say he's up about 10-15 lbs. in the last year to around 185 right now. If accurate, that's a solid number for his age and height. For perspective, Watts is 195, Lewis 193, Avery Davis 202. Those are sub 6' athletes on the team that have been in the system for a bit. Getting this guy up to 195-200 seems easy. Dude could be a missile at 200 lbs.
