Excuse my ignorance on how the recruiting sites actually work, but do they take this into account? As in, do they tend to rate a player with a "Koon Bod" so highly just based on his blocking ability (Brock Wright-ness)? On the OT to TE scale, it would seem like an oversight to rate someone so highly if they were the equivalent of an agile OT. Genuine question--not trying to call anyone out.

Recruiting sites are supposed to be taking this into account. They are often wrong. Wright was rated the top TE in the nation and he never was the #1 TE at ND. He didn't get drafted so that's evidence that he wasn't an untapped talent, just an overrated one.

The reason for Wright's lack of production was pretty obvious; he was slow. They should have been able to see that with all the film and combines. If Markway is slow he'll never win #1 status at Florida. Seems like a terrible fit, they use the TE like a big WR and almost never use two TE's.

Wright still has offers from all over so not like the recruiting services just overrated him. The eval of staffs fell, at least somewhat maybe not #1, in line as well.

On top of Cooper Flanagan, I would start working on receiving TE's that work downfield like:

I'm sure I was assuming the same thing about Brock Wright but, just for the record, he busted off a 4.62 40 at the Pro Day at 257 lbs. which was a pleasant surprise. Tremble ran 4.59 at 241 as a comparison.

Any word on if he's still visiting for the 27th? That's the dead giveaway on this.

Sounds like it’s going to be Florida. I consider that a win. We’ll have 4 underclassmen TEs on the roster in 2022. We should be keeping our powder and going all in for an elite TE. A breakout season for Mayer (and maybe some big time endorsement deals) should bolster our chances.

It’s interesting it sounds like Markway hasn’t informed the ND or UF staffs as of last update of his decision. Somewhat a throwback from the normal “announcements” which is why no CBs on Markway because no leaks that way. Be kinda fun to have someone announce without the result being knowing, though UF seems to be more likely.

I think Brewster the TEs coach isn’t expected back at UF

Not sure I've seen a coach mentioned in this fashion before

What's the chance ND kicks the tires on Mack again?
ND's interest was trending away from him before he committed UF. So I doubt it plus it seems as if he is what he's going to be, his body is more or less maxed out so there isn't much projection left and IMO you will see a steady decline in his ranking.

I don’t think that’s the case considering we clearly offered Flanagan only because Markway chose UF.

Either way, either Loy or Singer said when asked after decommitted that they don’t think we’ll pursue at this point. The second TE if there is one will be the pass catching, flex type
