What is the scoop on this dudes ranking. It seems he should be a 5 star based on offers alone.

ISD had a decent explanation. Said he's an elite athlete, but no one knows what position he'd be best at. Kind of like JOK - 3* who became one of the best LB's in college once they figured out his position. Plus, as mentioned, not a camper.

Was in the wide receiver meetings. Mainly with Stuckey, Rees of the position coaches. So that answers that for the time being.

“Ideally” before his senior season decision.

I’m old enough to remember when an elite athlete who could play on either side of the ball was simply classified as “ATH” and given an appropriate rating.

Rankings are becoming increasingly dumb and political with NIL, but I think you hit the nail on the head with the camp thing. If you’re not spending the money to go these camps that these businesses are putting on they ding you for it.

I’ll let him play whatever position he wants but he looks like a Rover/Star/badass defender. Call it what you want but he looks like he should be hitting people. Maybe that’s just me

I agree but im also holding my breath for the next Samardzija. Our WR room got so decimated by del that I just want bodies there

As a WR prospect, i'm higher on him than Flores and Greathouse. Both are fine prospects, but neither have the upside of Hanafin.

Still think his highest ceiling is as a JOK style OLB

Let him play safety and WR as a freshman. We need both and he might be 2 in one.
I will probably face criticism for putting this idea forward.

There’s individual talent in the room, but it’s *astounding* how dire the situation at WR is, and it’s going to get worse next year. They’ll likely have FOUR returning receivers!

Literally no one can get hurt and *everyone* has to meet or exceed expectations because of how bad a job they’ve done recruiting the position.

ND needs to let him play where he wants. I think Flores may have committed already. Greathouse pushed back his decision and Elzy is up and down. Also Micah Tease has been radio silent. Hopefully WRs wrap up the bulk of the needs soon.

Yeah I wouldn’t sweat where Hanafin plays at this point. Just get him in the door and the coaches will figure it out. High-academic kid with offers from Bama, Clemson and Georgia tells you all you need to know.

Here's your pushback. lol

Given the academic load and asking a freshman to learn two positions could be recipe for failure. Let them settle in and adjust to life as an ND student/athlete, then experiment his sophomore year. Of course this opinion and $5 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Did he have an amazing visit at Clemson?

Loy said that he was close to a crystal ball for Hanafin but hasn't put one in yet. IMO, not a good sign.

Knowing what I know about his HS, I would be very surprised if he went anywhere other than ND.
Same. It is a very very good school academically. I could maybe see Clemson bc they tend to draw a lot of kids from the Boston area. But Bama would be quite a different world.

Also fwiw I think he and Zinter are pretty close. Zinter’s older brother went to same HS as Hanafin. Maybe that helps us here.
