Best of luck to him.... Nothing wrong with wanting to stay close to home. If Kansas St can figure it out they can do well in that conference with Texas and Oklahoma leaving
I'm very sympathetic to talented kids staying home. Particularly rural states. But K-State probably not gonna figure it out.

The coach has two 8-5 seasons with a 4-6 season in Covid 2020 since arriving from North Dakota State.

It's not the uphill climb Kansas is, that's for sure, and they have a pretty good coach too.

I was ripping my hair out about ND not cooling on Dante after stating he was going to TAMU and LSU in April and going hard after AJ. He was NOT committed. I’m so sick of hearing about silent commitment. It’s not valid.

I mean how committed is anyone to Kansas State? That running back decommitted the next day after us and real big boys started sniffing around. QB is a little different bc of playing time but if you end up with enough top flight programs needing a Q in december, Davis will not be a Manhattan wildcat

Can we flip AJ if we stay on him until signing day and Edwards acts as a Jackson Arnold like snake in his ear for 4 months?

Unless he feels spurned. Like Flores with OSU at some point being the fall back pussy breeds resentment.

If we are going to end up not our first choice. Give me a raw super athletic with multiple tools. Hard to think of a recent comp as a ND qb but Book isn’t too far off. We could do a lot worse than that.

The difference is you take 1 QB per year and they had a silent from a 5 star. You can take 3-4 WRs per year which hurts alot more when you are the top receiver in your state but still not good enough. Avery has to understand he is not DM
Correct. If you take it personally, then you’re almost exclusively locked into a tier 2 programs. Bama, GA, ND, Ohio State did not go all in on low ranked QBs. Rees needed to keep the fire burning in April. I was throwing a fit saying I hope MF and TR show up to his Elite 11 bc Dante was playing ND. What seemed so obvious to literally all the fans seemed like a surprise to the staff.

The only hang up might be the hometown school factor and playing time. Which are more than nothing

Would love to see him follow Edwards to ND.
I'm a lazy boy, but one of the twitter accounts got a quote from him after the Edwards decommit, and he reaffirmed his commitment to Kansas St.

Edit: nvm. Found it

With that hair alone we need to keep calling until he changes his number.

I wonder if we’ve even reached out to him in the last month. Personally would rather have him than Minchey / Novosad just due to the upside. We took a “safe” qb last year.

Im locked in means ND hasn’t called. The future 50 video of Edwards starts with him talking about loyalty to KS.

If we haven’t called Avery Johnson, the team doc needs to order a brain mri for Rees.

It's not at all clear we ever gave Avery enough thought that he'd even feel like fallback pussy.

Also there's a big difference between being ignored by Ohio State and landing at Notre Dame, and being ignored by Notre Dame and landing at Kansas State. Unless you want to spend college stranded in the lower half of the Big 12, you get over that shit when Notre Dame finally calls you up.

Screw it...I'll bump his page since no one else will... New freaks list for recruits. First QB on the list...23 SPARQ points higher than Lamar? Lol

*insert Larry David, pretty pretty good, meme*

No. 13: Avery Johnson, QB (Kansas State commit)

The first quarterback to make this year’s list is Avery Johnson, who has testing numbers that most skill players dream of. In May at the Elite 11 Regional outside of Nashville, the Kansas-based gunslinger posted an eye-popping 4.56 on the lasers in the 40-yard dash. He then proceeded to clock a 4.24 in the 20-yard shuttle before topping things off with a 36.7-inch vertical jump. Those numbers were good enough for a 106.5 SPARQ score, which tops what both Lamar Jackson (83.31) and Jalen Hurts (82.71) totaled when back when they were in 11th grade. Johnson is also a talented basketball player who’s led Maize High to back-to-back state Final Fours while averaging 12.4 points per game.

Once this fella puts on a little more muscle, he could be a real force in college. Hopefully, Mr. Rees keeps after him.

I'd take him if he wants in, although I'd honestly prefer Minchey. My issue with Johnson is his accuracy. He's a real wildcard - a boom or bust prospect. It's a shame he wasn't a year older as he would've been the perfect QB to take a gamble on in last year's class as opposed to Pyne 2.0 (IMO).

I mean, I'm still concerned with Lamar's accuracy.
I'm not concerned about that athleticism, especially at the college level.

I agree at the Qb position, but there's an Avery Davis type option there if Angelli or Carr win the job. He could make for a really good option as a Wr down the road.

He’s an elite athlete at the QB position. I’d be pretty fired up If they were to land him. I’ll gladly take him with Carr coming in after him as an EE.
