He's wide open and taking visits to southern schools.

I'm not making a value judgment on this kid or saying the sky is falling, but I'm probably going to stop following this one. I hope I'm wrong and he's just having a good time, but his process has every indication of "not a fit." He's talking about wanting to see what plans each school has for him to go 3 and out.
Notre Dame CAN make this pitch... but it's not the same three-year plan that other schools will pitch lol.

It's the 'work really hard and take extra credits every semester and graduate in three years' plan, not the 'take it easy in the classroom, focus on your football craft, then get drafted early' plan.

yeah I thought the same thing. We have people graduating in 3 years. It can be done. But it also takes a lot of work and preparation before you start college to make it work.

Alabama's 3 year pitch to a wr:
Come here, sit for two years for sure, and in your third year you will play, win a championship one of those three years and we will guarantee you get drafted with or without a degree.

NDs 3 year pitch:
come here, sit for two years....maybe you get some snaps, hit the books hard for every available semester, maybe you get to playoffs, maybe you get drafted, but gauranteed to graduate

I'll put $5 on a SEC school blowing him away on a visit and he doesn't sign with either ND or OSU.

Fuck that. Pitch him on 3 and out with a normal work load then come back and finish after he retires from the NFL.

Yes. We need to lead with our academics + football, but we can't make that our only push if we want to win a title while we're all still breathing. We have to have the football side to offer. And if a kid is smart enough to do OK at school and not get in trouble, I have zero problem with selling him on the 3 year "light" plan.

There isn’t a light plan at ND. There maybe a major that is overall easier to obtain but I don’t think for a minute ND will be offering an easy academic course path to elite footballers like UNC did.

The choice is if you come to ND you will graduate with a marketable degree for after football life… not a communications degree from State U. If he wants to coast for 3 years and focus on football and leave without a degree... this isnt really the place for him and good luck to wherever he goes.

This is where I'm leaning, with Tennessee being my suspected random SEC school. Hopefully he and Dante want to team up in the north like we discussed, but the more I hear the less likely this whole thing seems.

Freeman, Rees, Chad Bowden, and the rest of the staff should definitely be getting recruiting advise from IE. This is how you lure the best right right here.

To all of those that think his 3 & Out has to be some MIT level experience:

He EE's and goes into ND's FT&T major and stays on campus year round working out... he lives 90 minutes from campus so no big deal.

That doesn't take a rocket scientist to get it done as long as he puts in the summer work. With the amount of "academic support" these guys get, it's not that tough but you have to EE cuz when you go 3 and out, you only go half of your Jr year cuz you bolt after the bowl game (or before :() to prepare for the combine.

Would be good to get him. Top-15ish at his position, and hopefully the first of about 3. The other WR from TX would be nice. And then maybe another similar player and/or Hanafin.

ND won't fix the WR room in one cycle. It will be a 2-3 year fix. If Tate comes, while I would be excited, I will also be waiting for him to transfer. The Tate's of the world don't seem to ever work out either coming to ND, or lasting at ND. Not to say ND can't and shouldn't get some Top-5ish WR's though. I think that is more likely in the next cycle though.
I think Tate sees the field immediately wherever he goes so I don't think he'd transfer if he comes here.

I think he's the best WR in the country.

I don't fear a transfer of him because of playing time
IDK, kids who play immediately just don't transfer at nearly as high of a rate. If he commits he certainly took his time, made his visits, and knows what hes getting into. Couple that with immediate snaps, I think he sticks.

You may not know. I do know, however, that football-first, 3-years-and-done, divaesque recruitments haven't worked out well for ND.

Maybe Tate will come to ND and thrive. I think everybody hopes that. Odds are not in favor of it occurring though.

I think the odds are in favor. What's the recent list of players who came to ND and immediately played, and ended up transferring? There are a lot who come, play right away, and stay 3-4 years.

The proper question is what's the list of players I described above who even came to ND, let alone made it/stayed/thrived at ND?

3 years and NFL?

Kyren Williams, Kevin Austin, Tommy Tremble, Owusu-Koramoah, Cole KMet, Julian Love I believe?, ESB, etc. And most of these didn't play early, or at least as early as Tate would likely play.

My God, you need a course in reading comprehension. I don't know if any of those players fit what irishog77 described. He described recruits acting like divas who made it clear FROM THE START that they only planned on sticking around for 3 years.

I dont think Tate is acting like a Diva or talking about 3 and done. And if he is, half of the kids coming to ND think that. These guys all think they're awesome.

The thought that he's a diva is pure BS at this point.

Sorry you're angry though?

Your premise is based on a complete assumption that the staff who knows this kid doesn't have. And you're upset you get pushback on that, lol. FOH.

I'm indifferent about Tate and if he's acting like a diva or not. I can't get into his head and know for sure what he's thinking.

What I do know is that providing a list of people who only stayed at ND three years before going to the NFL had nothing to do with countering irishog77's argument. Thank you for listening.

His argument is "I think he's a diva and others aren't".

Neither of us have a clue who's a diva and who's not, and there's no reason to assume Tate is. How many times has Tate committed/recommitted?

Remind me of the facts.

Tate isn’t a diva. Dude tweets once a month and it causes a freak out. Now he wants to visit, let’s see Bama, Georgia and LSU? Haha. Wanting to visit schools like that isn’t diva behavior it’s completely rational behavior. ND fans just don’t want him too.
