Why does it matter what anyone tweets?

If a recruit is that soft, his college life might be awesome, but his real life afterwards will suck…

Seriously, 95% of these kids will not only never make the NFL, but if they do they will still go bankrupt, and the rest will be serving fries in the near future. It’s amazing to me how every kid who is good at HS football thinks they are set for life?

Making $200k post taxes a year, for 40 years, with no worries of being cut for injuries or old age at 30…is so much superior than get a few million and nothing else at a young age.

History is undefeated.
Whether true or not, this seems harsh Reaper. I generally like your posts but 17 year olds don’t have a practical mindset filled with such wisdom.

I almost feel like there shouldn't be a signing day. You can sign whenever you want, you can start getting NIL once you sign. However, if signed and you want to go to a different school, it's considered a transfer and you get one free one then you are sitting out if you do it again.

I would say it’s probably time to buckle up the seat belt in the recruiting world.

Between Keeley and Bowen I think Keeley sticks with ND. Although I think Drayk Bowen would be a voice in keeping Keeley & P. Bowen committed to this class.

If I’m not mistaken I believe Brenan Vernon is also a good friend of KK and may be another reason we end up keeping him.

For that matter many of the current commitments are good friends with one another. So aside from the efforts of the staff to keep these kids in the class, their future teammates probably go a long way in keeping the class together.

I'm not overly concerned with KK taking an unofficial. I think he's got way too many people in ND's corner and he is a perfect fit at ND.

I'm more concerned with P. Bowen.

I just can’t understand why either would forgoe early PT and joining the #1 class at a brand like ND. I understand Bama is a big dynasty, but there’s more to the overall experience than winning a title at a factory. Neither of them will suffer NFL draft status by going to ND. Both could become legends rather than a number. Both could push the needle for ND in beating Bama. Would you rather be on the team that took Bama down and won a title, or be on the next Bama title team while sitting the bench and earning a mediocre degree? To me the answer seems obvious. In fact, ND offers more opportunity to get PT, drafted, earnings after college/NFL. It’s not as if ND is Kansas State or something and doesn’t have a very legitimate chance to compete for a title soon.

I mean, it's Alabama. They do have a lot to offer. Not least of which you're competing with the best of the best every day in practice, and nothing's going to make you better and prepare you for the NFL like that.
That said, everything you say is true. And - while it's hard to really tell from the outside - Keeley feels like the sort of kid who'll appreciate what Notre Dame has to offer. Bowen's mom does as well. The question is whether Peyton does, enough to overcome the friends/comfort level of sticking closer to home, it seems like.

ND has top shelf talent. You practice daily with the top ten percent of collegiate athletes. Also you develop the discipline to complete a degree that is top five percent. Some people can only complete the athletic side of that challenge. Maybe ND isn’t for them.

One has to think what all these newbies would've said during the 2011 crazy recruitment of Lynch, Tuitt, and Williams.

Take a deep breath.....
P.S. Peyton Bowen visited OU again.

Yep, no sense in getting too emotionally invested. It’s not going to sway a recruits decision.

I will put this in the Bowen & Keeley threads…
But according to IB, they ND staff have communicated with the recruits after their visits, before the dead period started.

Mom interview with BOL and not Keon is interesting
Does he talk much? When Pete Sampson did that big profile of him in The Athletic a couple months back, Keeley was not doing any press at the time. Pete talked w/his mom and coaches and the Reader family and even watched him practice but Keon himself was never quoted. He doesn't look all that into social media either. Just the occasional post, almost all of them involving Notre Dame (except the time Saban came to his high school...)

at that time Keeley was banned by his HS coaches from being interviewed

ND better be looking for Keeley replacement...... This situation will come down to the final hour. As of right now, this kid got 1 foot in and 1 foot out.
