i think cam williams will get a lot of playing time as a freshman, he is a big time talent. the 2024 starting wrs look really good but their is zero depth if someone gets hurt.

Sadly, in an attempt to help these young men, the NCAA and the portal, will more than likely hurt them long term. Obviously the players are free to make their own decisions but I really don’t believe they think the 40 year decision through. We all have made poor decisions over the years so it’s not a knock on anyone. But sometimes what looks like a good thing actually becomes a bad thing.

Rico had 392 yards (60 on 1 play) on the season and 1 TD with SH at QB those aren't even top 200 stats. I know I get shit sometimes for speaking my opinion....But Maclin had 1k yards and 10 TDs, I'm not saying we are going to land him....But what I am saying is with the transfer portal, it doesn't matter anymore. If we think it will be hard to replace his production....we are all wrong. And before the "He was only a Fresh" talk comes...Ya I get it.....Still not the end of the world. Rico should have gotten his free ND degree and continued his path here as he would have been a key in their offense. With the portal anymore, I'm like who cares...go do you Rico.

I hope so. Unfortunately, the staff has given me zero reason to believe they have the ability to go out and target wide receiver talent.

Agreed. Those reps as a freshman were going to truly payoff when he became an upperclassmen.
Someone alluded to an interview he gave in season which seemed like he was self aware of this opportunity, given his background.

The portal additions will make or break this team. Losing some kids in the portal is the new norm. Losing them in droves, at a single position, could be catastrophic IF they can't back fill through the portal. Forget the production. Offenses NEED numbers at the WR position to function, to practice, to scheme, to provide depth.

If ND can roll into Fall Camp next year with 10-15 scholarship WRs, they'll be fine and we'll forget all of this happened.

The portal is new, and this is the first year they need to go get a WR. Staff did pretty good getting the best QB in the portal last year and a top 3 again this year. I have no doubt they will be fine.

I don't think it's far fetched that Tyree can be replaced by the portal and Cam starting day 1 can replace Rico's 25 catches for 350 and a tuddy.

Wishful think perhaps, but ND may need to clear out some of these middling talents to land an elite WR coach. None who has left will be an impact player on a Top 5 team. Sucks for the bowl game, but a net gain long term.

Unless we lose AA Greathouse I’m not worried at all.

im seeing a ton of hopium on the portal saving the wr room.

NDs history of WRs in the portal is not good at all.

Kaleb Smith - barely even found the locker room.
Freddy Canteen - 1 catch for 7 yards. ONE CATCH.

who am I missing?

Does super bowl champion change how his time at ND is viewed?

29 catches - 439 yards and 5 tds.

clearly the high bar of what we are looking for. 33% is a large failing grade and still doesnt and shouldnt give anyone confidence that portal will benefit the wr room.
