I will say, if they take Schrauth & Taylor and then Aamil Wagner wanted to commit before Rice... I'd take him. I know Rice is a probable Top 10 Overall prospect but Wagner is an excellent prospect too and too good to pass up for a 5 star's maybe.

I'm not about to pretend like I know anything about Offensive line recruiting (or any position for that matter), however, what would your dream class be? It seems like all the sites love Rice. Would it be Rice, Wagner, Tanona, Chan and one of Schrauth or Taylor?

Unless the staff doesn’t have a good feel for where they stand for Wagner and Rice, if Schrauth pops as #3, they may slow play Taylor. Except...

-they know doing so will lose him to OU and don’t want to risk coming up short of 5 OL with their initial offers
-have him higher on their board than Wagner

Or they want 4 ideally and will only take 5 if it’s Wagner AND Rice. By adding Johnson in 2020, they maybe super picky for Tackles and let the chips fall where they may.

With how Singer at Rivals has spoke about this recruitment, it's all but a done deal. It seems like they'd just like to commit in-person or on a visit. Since that keeps getting pushed back I think it could happen any day now. But, that could have been said 1-2 months ago, lol.

I’d put the 2nd spot as BPA. Schrauth is a visit away from a commitment and then they can decide if a 5th LB, 4th DE, or 3rd interior OL is better.

I also think there is a chance that we see some attrition on the OL once the two deep gets set. Maybe that opens up a spot for another OG anyways.

I mean, he has other interviews saying Notre Dame will be one of the first places he visits (though he definitely lists a lot of them). Just because he doesn't mention ND in an article about OSU doesn't mean we're not in play.

On a semi-related note, as a first time subscriber to 247, the OSU guys are clowns. Talk about homers. The only thing worse that I've experienced are the Georgia radio guys.

I'm not going to defend his journalistic chops. I follow him and pay attention to stuff he says about guys ND & OSU are in on. I do wonder why he didn't mention ND as a program who offered when Shanahan said this to ISD:

He visited South Bend on his own over a year ago, but said he will definitely return for a true recruiting visit.

“One thousand percent,” he says. “That's probably one of the first schools I’d visit. So yeah. Without a doubt.

I saw a post that Schrauth may not commit until the fall. Any chance we’re slow playing him while we shoot our shot with Hinzman, Taylor, Wagner, etc.?

Or maybe he’s just throwing people off the scent to make his June commitment more surprising. I can’t think of any other reason he’d wait until fall to close the deal.
