He would be a take regardless as we need a DT as well and he is supposed to be a good prospect as a DT.

It will be down to the wire. The pressure of playing at Wisc is crazy. What is the timeline and when is national signing day.

Going back to the article slip, it could also be that they already had the next depth chart analysis written for Schrauth, but didn't have one for Wagner considering no one thought we were getting him. They used the same prewritten one and just changed the paragraphs but forgot to change the depth chart tables.

I have no worries here. Schrauth is a silent ad I’ve said before. He is waiting to the final signing day. He will EE and then won’t have to take as much grief for his decision not to go to Wiscy.

Trust me here. It makes sense.

100% agree with this. I remember Najee Harris did something like this when he left NorCal for Bama. He signed, hopped on a flight the next morning and EE'ed at Bama thus avoiding all the family drama and BS in his hometown

Arrelious Benn WR out of DC area

Correct.

Zook and Locksley lured him to Illinois in the 2007 recruiting class that also included Martez Wilson, who ND was really after as well. Locksley had the DC area connection and Wilson was a Chicago Public League player who attended the rival HS that ND DC Corwin Brown attended. Brown supposedly got into a verbal altercation at Wilson's HS and things went very sour but it was likely Wilson was going to Illinois anyway. I recall hearing Benn's mother was given a job on campus in Champaign Urbana as well.

It all pissed off ND, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. to the point that everyone started accusing Illinois of rule breaking. Nothing really ever came of it other than Illinois went to a Rose Bowl and lost, never had another class like that again and Zook was gone. Their 2007 class was top 20 and the 2008 class was maybe top 25. It never really sustained itself.

Benn was a silent commit to ND for a while and was going to play with Jimmah. It never came to pass.

I've thought that was the plan all along.

That would make a lot of sense. When’s national signing day?

Can’t a recruit sign and keep it private until he steps on campus?

I suppose he could, but it would probably bad form having schools continue to try to recruit you even after signing a NLI.

A lot of people forget that Benn and Golden Tate were in the same class. Benn commits to Illinois in November and ND offers Golden Tate immediately after. Tate visits ND in December and the rest is history.
