Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think he's Deion Walker 2.0. Someone who played against weak competition in HS and couldn't adjust to the level of competition at ND. Maybe there's a reason why UGA didn't push for him.
Maybe. Thing about Walker is he seemed to lack the mental side. Guy was a highly rated kid (was a 5* at one point), hardly played for four years and never even transferred. Seemed like he was fine with not playing and just getting his degree. Most kids with that talent and a love for the game will do whatever it takes to see the field, even if that means finding another school.

Yeah so just sending Pyne on a completely unblocked run to the weak side wasn't actually the play call there? Good.

Not to be snarky, but you do realize that the snap was early? And it was a actually a good job by him to catch the ball at all and not fumble. The play design looks like it's a handoff right or maybe zone read but Pyne had to take off running because everything was broken.

The replay clearly shows that the snap comes at Pyne while still signaling for the motion to the weakside for an additional blocker. The early snap is bobbled so instead of trying to force a handoff and risk further damage he takes off and runs. Looks bad if that's all you see but obviously there's context to it and trying to reduce compounding mistakes.

Between Pyne's nerves and Rees' awful play calling in Marshall game and no efforts downfield in this game, this team's season is really bad.

We should have won Marshal and Cal game going away. What a joke this season has become.

While I agree the play on page 19 is a learning curve, give Tobias more playing time. I noticed him on the team walk and he along with Mayer could be end zone threats with their height (Tobias)/physicality (Mayer).

Is Colzie still nursing an injury? Shocked to see that he hasn't seen the field this year.

Yes. They said before the Marshall game that Wilkins was closer to playing than Colzie but neither was expected to play. I guess Wilkins got a few snaps but was not targeted.

I saw Colzie on the field on special teams, and he was wearing a knee brace.

Even with good HS comp, he would’ve made plays as he’s fast and nearly 6’5”, but this isn’t HS and he’s looked stiff and unnatural as a receiever
All the talk was that he was looking great in pre season. Baffling.

No one’s happy about this season, but the worse joke would have been yet another loss. We needed to win and found a way in spite of the glaring mistakes. Every game will be a hurdle and that’s a shame considering we have talent to be better than what we’re displaying, but I’d rather win than lose every time. Every team has to establish it’s own identity through the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let’s hope we can build on this win.
Agreed.

If our offense can breakout against North Carolina I think Merriweather can be apart of it.

With ND's current QB situation and "free agency" being the new cool thing in college football, I think ND would be lucky to field any WRs next season.

Hahaha. I'm just hoping the Irish can hold UNC to 20 pts. and hopefully the OL won't keep jumping offsides and get the running attack going to squeak out a 21-24 point explosion for an upset win! Go Irsh!!!

I highly doubt they will be kept under 20 points.

I agree. For all the defensive hype, we have struggled to keep teams to low scores due to inconsistent play especially against the run. Can we stop the run and consistently pressure Maye? Their OLine certainly will be better than Cal

I mean, I know these last 10 days have seemed like an eternity, but we held Ohio flipping State to 21 points and less than 400 total yards.

That's a far more potent offense.

Also can't say I agree with your assertion that their OL will be certainly better than Cal. UNC is 111th in QB sack percentage. And while it's better than Cal's currently....Cal played us, which brought the ranking down significantly, while UNC has played the likes of Appalachian State, FAMU and Georgia State.

I'd say both are equally terrible, and UNC may be potentially worse.

We had 6 sacks against Cal and it really probably should have been 10. A few missed tackles and over rushing. But as long as they can get that same kind of pressure against UNC it will help.

Their QB has 26 rushes for 136 yards. That’s an average of 5.6 yards per. Gonna have to keep an eye on him.

Literally the only receiver to make a single play tonight. Get this guy on the field now. Should've had 2 TDs.

Through 6 games he's got half of Lenzy's total yards on one catch, and he's got 1 more TD than Lenzy. I feel like we're out there playing with 10 men sometimes if Lenzy isn't really contributing in the passing game.

My dad asked me why Zero plays so much and if he does anything well.

People have been crying for Merriweather for weeks now.

For him to score a TD and then, I think, see literally ZERO snaps after that, is beyond negligent.

Got to earn trust somehow else
So what has Lenzy done to earn trust?
What did Styles do out there to earn trust?
What did Evans do in his first game to earn trust?

There were virtually several players on offense that were "trusted" and betrayed said trust tonight and kept playing. Yet, Merriweather makes, far and away, the best play on offense and yet he doesn't see the field after that.

No, not buying that. That's a coaching failure.
