What’s funny is watch his stride with the ball in his hands, then compare it to his stride on the Estime TD run.

You can judge speed in 10 yards intervals, and watch how slow his stride is on the catch.

Then go back & watch him on the Estime TD run. He is legitimately 15 yards behind Estime (not even on the screen), & runs past all the State DBs & catches Estime by the End Zone.

By how fast he was striding the 10 yards intervals he was running a legit sub 4.4 40.
But on the catch he was not even close to that.

Watch the game, and when they show the replay of the Estime TD, watch Tobias run by everyone like they are standing still.
Not positive but I believe he was loosing a cleat while running after his catch. Had very slight limp like a shoe wasn't on tight enough and I think there is a shot of him running off the field with a shoe in his hand after that play.

Tobias doesn’t have to have huge production. He just needs to have enough production for safeties to be concerned about him going deep. Opens up the middle of the field. Tobias stands alone at the field wr position in that regard. I think Rico has some nice speed, but Tobias has a fair amount more.

He definitely was holding a cleat, I remember that.

He wasn't that quick as the Safety caught up to him and tackled him. I thought Tobias had great speed but he didn't show it on that play.

Isn't he just a sophomore? Let the kid develop in his own time. He doesn't owe us anything. He owes it to himself and his teammates to give the best effort he can.

Remember these are young guys and not NFL pros. A bit of patience would be nice. He could still end up having a very nice career here, and has already shown some signs of progression. Give him time and if he doesn't end up being the guy, its next man up at that point.

I’m struggling to find target data but judging by catches and receiving yards, to me, this is less a Tobias issue and more of how much the offense has spread the ball around.

Didn't Golden take 2 years to really pop off?

I seem to remember his Soph. season Golden was just a speed guy to take the top off then he broke out his Jr. season.

Maybe Tobias is going to be the same way.

I remember him taking off as a sophomore. We wrote a song about it. "You're Gonna Learn to Hate... Ol' Golden Tate."
