Also NSD of next year is a long ways away. We will see what happens

yeah, I can understand kids going to OSU but Ryan Day doesn't do much for me.

Starting right now. Lorenzo is under the Freeman hegemony, and whatever else, he will talk to his little brother.

If Sonny does not go the early entry route, it is nearly 400 days until he can sign a letter of intent.

In the eternal words of Dick Motta, the opera is not over until the fat Lady sings, and she has yet to clear her throat.

Ok cool so he was never an option for ND. Literally can’t get any of these “reclass” players past admissions and for good reason.

Under grad transfers? I think ND needs to loosen up
Reclassifying? I don't think they should budge

ND is top academic institution and I’m all for them being as flexible as possible with people they think can graduate — whether that’s kids coming out of high school with poor test scores or undergrad transfers where they don’t have a great GPA.

In my opinion, if you start letting in “reclassified” players that don’t have the credits for admission or take undergrad transfers that don’t have a path to graduate then you will have sold your soul and be worse for it in the long run.

Right. This trend shows that the bar for academic performance couldn't be much lower at most of the schools we're competing with.

You can maybe justify admitting an athlete with a 941 on his SAT and a 2.5 GPA on the basis that he'll have lots academic support once he gets to the next level. But to let a kid like that also skip his senior year of high school? There's no way he's going to be ready to compete in a college classroom. Not even pretending to play school at that point.

I said "loosen up" on under grad transfers. Meaning, help create a feasible path for them. If there's none there, than I'm cool with not letting the kid in if so.

The only way that ND will “loosen” undergrad transfers is if they change their approach to 5th year players.

Right now 5th years have to be in a grad school program. The only undergrads that they will take are kids who can graduate in 4 years. If they changed the 5th year policy so that they could still be pursuing an undergrad degree, suddenly there would be a whole new world of possibilities.

Most 2nd and 3rd year transfers can’t graduate in 4 years at ND because of all the core classes that they would have to make up.

Ewers was able to reclassify because he only needed a English class to finish during the summer right? If that was his only class he needed to graduate, seems like he was planning to do the bare minimum and he decided against wasting anymore time in HS. Really its not like he was going to be anymore prepared leaving HS as he wasnt planning to take AP classes or elevate himself academically. Those guys wont make it at ND it seems to me.

So has his brother bought into MFMF too? I remember that he was retweeting the initial tweet sonny sent on joining him in CBUS next year.

That was kind of my point. The only two scenarios to justify reclassification are: (1) the kid is Dougie Howser, and is legitimately college ready at 17; or (2) the college doesn't give a f*ck about actually educating the kid, so why make him wait another year? (1) is rare, and we all know it's actually (2); though I'm alarmed at how quickly they're letting that mask slip recently. Does not bode well for the health of CFB.

Right... and Ewers ended up taking the NIL money and running.

You're exactly right. None of these kids are Doogie Howser's. More like Vinny Delpino's.

I don't remember if it was Two Pros and a Cup of Joe or the Dan Patrick Show but they were discussing Styles and his reclassification. The comment was made that this was Styles idea and not OSU's. If true, why not tell him he has to wait? They have to be willing accomplices to make this work.

I thought there were recent 5 year players that weren't in grad school?

This is correct (well, not sure on the numbers) but it's been confirmed by the beat that ND has players that are not in masters programs are just filling in the schedule with "extra classes".

Style may have said:

Look I am going to the NFL as soon as I can and that is accelerated by my early entry.

Further, he and his attorneys would have shoved the entire Justice Department up Brutus Buckey's butt by showing them a picture of Quinn Ewers and his early entry./ Feel free to check me on facts or law./

Good for Styles. Let him go on to the NFL as soon as he can
