After we lose Hamilton and Griffith, ND won't have a single Top 200 recruit in their entire Defensive Backfield next year. I have high hopes for Devin Moore but That is an issue.
What does this have to do with Sonny. The linebacker.

Got a text from an OSU buddy of mine saying it's quite possible Styles will reclassify into the 2022 class. :censored:

We need to figure out a way to deal with kids wanting to reclassify. The administration will probably hate it, but we need to at least have the option to keep up. We can't afford to handicap ourselves like Stanford did for so long with early enrolling.

I applaud Styles if he does enter early. He clearly has an Nfl future and spending another year with Trig and English lit accomplishes little

What's fascinating is that he and Lorenzo could both be in the '25 draft.

why would ND get in the way of a kid reclassifying?
Provided they are smart enough to cope what is the big deal?

Reclassification should be banned. Do regular students get to do it?

Yes, I know two kids who skipped senior year of HS and it had nothing to do with athletics. One went to Purdue and the other went to some small liberal arts college whose name I’m currently blanking on.

The entrance requirements are a problem. Hard to do four years in all the subjects you need to in only three years.

Yes. I knew a person who did it and knew of several others that did it. None were athletes and most went to really good academic schools.

Because of the combination of AP credit, community colleges taken while in high school, dual credit courses taught by high schools, and college courses taken online, your average freshmen arrives as a second semester freshmen. About a quarter of our students arrive as sophomores now, yet most are not considered transfer students. (Yes I am an academic vice president at a college of about 3,000, so I do know a little about this. That said, I don't understand how the NCAA classifies class, as we are D3).

While this is the case most places, at Notre Dame they don’t accept pre-college credits aside from certain AP credits.

I almost recommend a thread for parent appreciation where we give polite shout outs to the tremendous parenting that gave their child the opportunity to attend such a prestigious academic institution. This would also serve the important dual purpose of giving posters notice of which recruits and team members we should absolutely keep our mouth shut about if we got negative feels/vibes.

Hot take. Dumb, but hot.

A take worthy of Little Caesar's.

This is a shitty sour grapes takes worsened by the fact we know their mom has been on this board

LOL. Maybe this will be better for our fragile grape members.

Dear whoever,

I think Lorenzo is a generational level talent who will go down as a Notre Dame great before he leaves school early as a first round draft pick. I am sad that we did not successfully recruit Sonny at this time because he would have been an excellent addition to our defensive roster due to his elite athleticism and positional flexibility, which Ohio State as currently constituted does not do nearly as good of job at utilizing. Because of this I think he will find greater opportunities at other institutions, for example Notre Dame (a place I would love to see him in two years), where his strengths can be better used and where he also will be a first round draft pick.

I hope everyone finds this post on an internet message board to be suitable to their palates and is easily digested along with your Thanksgiving yum yums. I will only serve super awesome bland takes like "my eyes tell me this defense just isn't that good" posts from now on so as not to make Al Gore weep.

Sincerely,
Big Caeser's, home of the unseasoned mashed potatoes

My new take...golly gee aren't all these recruits out there special in their own ways? AND they all have moms? Wow! What a country! Thoughts guys?

Agreed. The worst take is to slander any of these kids or to put their decisions down if they don’t choose Notre Dame. Unless they directly speak ill of ND or scam the school, there is no justification for doing either when they are just finding their way in the world. Maybe I’m getting old, but I personally don’t get worked up over recruiting. I expect the staff will put in the work and make a strategic effort to get the best, but they aren’t going to win them all... not yet anyway.

Look I get it. I over rant and get mouthy here and thank god I can because it beats boring my family with my petty concerns about high school athletes. But there should be some balance and thought given to the fact that parent participation has and can be some of the most insightful and best info we ever get here and even better then pay sites so why discourage that. Also on Sonny many are saying he may reclassify. I think reclassification has worked real bad and mostly been a train wreck for othee high end recruits. If something like that crashes and burns let it be at USC and OSU and not here.

I was skeptical of OSU’s “Bullet” spot because of Nwankpa’s recruitment but Hickman for them as been pretty good player in that spot and definitely properly utilized this year. Rather moot point anyways since they almost definitely hire a new DC. So I don’t think Sonny being mismanaged to the point of him not living up to his billing will happen for multiple reasons
