Story time.

A close friend was at a party a few years ago with a few PSU players that were big names - like top NFL draft picks. They all said, at the time, that PSU should start Pribula over Allar because Pribula “is a dog” and Allar “won’t show up when the team needs it”. This was before he started a single game. Sometimes you just know when someone’s not built for the limelight.

He was really not good last night. The two picks that were wiped out were really bad balls. Obviously the one that wasn't wiped out. Cost them an easy touchdown early when he shortarmed that pass to the RB on 3rd and goal. No completions to wide receivers or much of anything downfield. Lousy body language/demeanor. We didn't even really get all that much pressure on him most of the time.
I don't get it, the first-round pick talk. And he's been a starter for two full seasons now. He probably is what he is.
The first one was a legit penalty, no question. Gray got beat and held the WR. The second? If the ball was thrown better it's a penalty but it was so under thrown that Schuler really didn't impact Warren's ability to make the catch at all. Terrible flag in that spot.

That was far from ND’s best performance on defense. I believe if ND faced them in regular season, the Irish beat them comfortably. But credit PSU for getting to where they got despite zero impressive regular season wins.

Allar looked bad. The first pick made sense b/c he saw the flag when Gray held the WR off the LOS & tossed it up to ensure the PI call. The other two were really bad. He gets bailed out by the questionable PI on Shuler & then the one that decided the game.

Before that he missed some layups. Singleton should’ve caught the walk-in TD but it was still thrown behind him. That was the first of many misses. Go Irish

Interference on a pass that didn't make it to the receiver makes zero sense. It should have been ruled an uncatchable pass. If Shuler wasn't there at all it wouldn't have been a completion, which means it was uncatchable. Plain and simple. These refs are a joke and should be working at McDonalds.

Didn’t somebody reference some terrible stats under pressure as compared to other QB’s in the week or two leading up to the game?

I tried to search for it but couldn’t locate it.

He said in the presser he intentionally tried to “dirt” it at the WRs feet??????

Why would you throw it away, down field, across the middle at the ground? Warren was to your left coukd have launched it out of bounds. Singleton to the right could have dirted it there.

Hilarious lie

I had the same thought. Insane if he thinks anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of football believes that.

Everybody thinks they can pick on Mr. Gray until Mr. Gray picks them off.

I thought he said he was trying to throw it at the feet of the receiver. A spot that he expects only his receiver would have a chance to catch it. Not trying to throw it away.

I think he's 100% lying. He might've convinced himself of the lie but you don't "dirt it" across the field to that option. You hit your RB in the flat or throw in the general direction of a sideline target.

And if he's not lying, that is absolutely terrible execution. Probably a worse thing if he's telling the truth.

Thank god he chose PSU. I'd hate knowing he was the incumbent starter for my team, knowing he crumbles in big situations. His decision making and throws were awful despite having some incredible weapons and a helluva an OC. Think about what they most likely lose in the draft.

Now that I’ve seen both as seniors, I feel pretty good saying we didn’t miss anything here and Steve when healthy ended up being better.

Edit: LOL and there his one NFL throw a game like clock work to give some people hope.

Can’t help but think Allar would have benefited from being the one in the portal rather than Pribula. Pribula would be a great fit in this playbook

The biggest way you can tell someone is a bust is when media digs in on blaming others, Allar has had:

1st Round Tyler Warren and now Ole Miss leading WR Harrison Wallace. In 2023 he had in addition 4th round TE Theo Johnson and 5th Round Keandre Lambert Smith, who also led Auburn in receiving in ‘24. He’s had projected NFL RBs his entire stay. He has projected NFL OL almost across the OL this year. They went out and landed a portal haul at WR this summer.

and people will stay say with a straight face well he doesn’t have much weapons.

If you think about it, he's the perfect QB for the type of program Franklin runs (not good enough to beat the best teams).

In the same breath, Penn State fans and media will say that PSU recruiting sucks because they spent all their money on the current roster while also saying the current roster doesn't have the weapons they need to succeed.
