All I can say is, it wasn’t going to be me to bring this gem.

I absolutely hate PSU but I love this kid. Unsure how this is going to play out.

Well, Kelly generally fixes one thing each year, except the year he brought in Long, Elko and Balis.

Kelly handled the transition from Elko to Lea to Freeman with increasing brilliance. And the Arabesque whereby he both KEPT Elston and facilitated and enabled, even if not fostered this extraorodinary dynamic between Elston and Freeman is nothing less than brilliant. And he SWIFTLY rubberstamped Bowden.

Kelly has talked Championship level recruiting.
now, after he wrestled Freeman away from Red Stick and Orgeron's icy clutches, we know what it looks like.

Kelly keeps his cards close to his vest. After this recruiting cycle, he will address two things: Rees quarterback targeting/ recruiting, AND how to bring offensive recruiting up to the level of the defensive recruiting.

The future is always uncertain, but recent history demonstrates that ND Coach Brian Kelly can solve problems once identified.

Let patience, and Kelly, do its perfect work..............

Oh, and "infuriating" is for kids. Adults fix problems, never the blame. .

The Athletic is reporting that Ryan Day has started to personally recruit Drew. I guess when Ewers reclassified, they wanted a QB out of this class

That'd be great for him if he wants to transfer after a year or two. It worked for Joe Burrow.

Where did it say that? I read a Q&A story today on the Athletic where an OSU fan asked *if* they'd circle back to recruit Drew and the author said he didn't think that was likely.

Dante Moore making a lot of sense for ND.

Dante's not my #1 on field choice in '23 but he sure makes sense as a regional guy who's got all the hype... and friends with other hyped '23 guys that would make a great package.

I mean, I could put together a signed 8x10 NIL agreement with him that's waiting for him the day he's eligible. a first order of 1000 @ $250 should get his attention.

In all seriousness, he needs to be on board and immediately recruiting like the Mayor of '23.

Nothing would make me happier than to see this kid go sit behind all the other great qbs at osu and for penn states class to fall apart

Why would anyone be so stupid to go somewhere that has two 5 star guys a year ahead of him? Not to mention the other two guys almost as highly rated 2 years ahead of him?

Wait until some guys leave, then transfer, unless you like being a 5 string QB for at least 2 years.

Cuz he's from Ohio.

ND could've signed 3 Jaylen Sneeds in '23 and if Freeman offered Ziegler after they committed, he's joining them as the 4th LB in South Bend.

I see where you're coming from but I don't think it automatically makes someone stupid to be OSU's QB of the '22 class. I think whoever takes that spot in their '22 class will have to be very confident in his abilities or they have to love OSU and be content with sitting for a bit to get their shot. I understand the one time transfer rule opens things up to do things differently but some kids just want to go to their dream school. Plus there are benefits to being in a program and knowing the inner workings, playbook, calls, teammates, etc.

If I were good enough and had the chance to attend ND but knew I'd most likely be riding the bench for a couple years before I saw meaningful PT, I would rather do that than go to Eastern Michigan or something and play right away and then transfer in later. Who knows if you'd even have the chance to transfer in in a year or two.

There will probably be a lot of turnover with OSU’s QB depth chart depending on how Ewers does during camp.

I am right there with you. Mu hunch is that Day knows Ewers is not likely to make a dent this year. But let's say, pick one OSU QB (Stroud) has a really good year....not top 10 draft good, but one more year away from being 1st round draft pick good. There is no way that Ewers sticks around for that. I think they are preparing for his eventual walk. He will need to earn that next contract, I mean NIL deal.

OTOH, if the other QB's are luckwarm and they move to Ewers, I can see both taking off at the end of the year. Simply put, Ewers reclassifying for $$ really screwed their depth chart over.

It's a timing issue. They now have 2 qbs in each of the last 2 classes, none of which will be draft eligible at the end of this year. Say McCord and Miller transfer, that leaves 2 QBs on the roster. That ain't good. Have to find a 22 QB now.

Pursuing him tells me Day isn't terribly excited about what he currently has on the roster.

Or he knows the current roster is gonna bounce depending on who he names the starter

IMO its this. You cant stockpile 5* qb and expect them to sit on a bench multi years. There will be a heavy turnover this fall depending on who wins the job.

This is a big danger when you recruit nationally. There's nothing holding these kids home and sometimes that doesn't even work (Jeaux Burreaux)

Finding a solid local kid or kid with ties who can become your Tommy Rees when called upon is a smart move. RP3 fits the bill today. Depend on them until they graduate, then they can GT to a place where they can be the man or at least compete for QB1.

You can afford to be way late on Allar when your QB room looks like it does at OSU. A QB of Allar's caliber is a luxury for OSU vs. a need for ND.

If Ewers lives up to his billing, I’d predict Stroud is the starter and has a very good year at that, given the weapons. At that point he’ll have some sort of draft stock built up. His decision becomes stay at OSU and risk losing job still, transfer somewhere smaller and retain a lofty draft stock, or transfer to the most competitive team possible to win. Tough spot to be in. One of the other backups will transfer as well.

I am really surprised Quinn Ewers would even go out of Texas. If you are that highly ranked he will start at UT easy, make a ton on the NIL, and probably a first round pick. Why go to OSU and potentially wait and have to go thru the portal? I guess he thinks he can just go right back to UT if he wants to.

That could be dangerous in the locker room. It's both a great spot and a terrible spot for Day.
