The CJ Williams = Keenan Allen comparisons are justified and hopefully come to fruition.

Speaking of CJ, next week he goes up against future teammate Jaden Mickey, 4.5* Aaron Williams, 3* Eric Butler & undefeated Centennial in the playoffs.

I am mildly concerned that Austin takes a fifth year elsewhere. I haven't heard anything even suggesting that he will, just a feeling.

Would make little sense from a business perspective, and zero sense from an academic one.

Yeah I'm 0 percent concerned about that scenario. He's battled suspension and injuries for 3 years and stuck threw the hard times/adversity. Would be really odd for him to jump ship to another program after graduating and essentially getting a year to do nothing but play football on the Notre Dame stage next year without the challenges school brings.

Trying to remember if Austin has his own thread. Seems logical that he would have his own thread where we could talk about him. You know where all conversation related to Austin could be maintained in one nice, neat and focussed thread but maybe not.

If Austin, Lenzy, and Wilkins all move on and Davis comes back, you would be okay with only 7 scholarship receivers to start the season????? And in this scenario, forget about moving someone over to slot (ex Tyree) or Watts back to receiver. Only a foolish team and poor coaching would allow that level of terrible roster management. Injuries/attrition happen, like this year. From March to November, we've had three receivers leave/transfer, two suffer season ending injuries, and one move positions. It's not likely for that to happen again next season, but it wouldn't be impossible either.

Kelly is a believer in having good depth. He wouldn't do that to his new starting QB for 2022.

As much as I want the young guys to get the playing experience, you don't throw away depth (Lenzy) or starters (Austin). Given the track record of receivers here since Kelly was hired, he's very seldom to rely on freshman unless they absolutely have earned it and are prepared.

I'd keep the senior receivers, welcome them all back. Wilkins, I don't know, he's a humble, hard-working young man and maybe his experience in Rees' system could be valuable again, or bring some special teams experience.

Austin, whom some will say has been majorly disappointing, or perhaps overhyped, is still our leading receiver in yards and touchdowns. And this is first real season going against competition that are not his teammates. He may not turn into a superstar, freak like we hoped, but he will be immensely valuable for next years team.

Definitely would like to see Davis come back. IF I had to choose between Austin and Lenzy for an additional year, it would definitely be Austin (hands down)!

Webb in a recruiting thread mentioned he has even more confidence now that Walker ends up at Michigan. Going to suck if we lose out on him and Williams.

If we lose both Williams and Walker, we might want to see if any of the top '23 WR targets could enroll a year early. Maybe bring it up with Carnell Tate. I feel like IMG might be able to help him get the necessary courses done between the spring and summer. Maybe coming in early with a relatively weak WR room and class could give us an edge over Ohio State.

It ain't easy for top recruits to qualify academically for ND with four full years of high school to do it. I can't imagine reclassifying is an option for us.

That's why I brought up the IMG point. With it not being a traditional school, they would probably be easier to work with to get it done. If he was planning on being an early enrollee, it would only be one extra semester to knock off.

thats good news and should give me about 5 minutes of relief.

Yep, I will add that the source reached out on his own to say that via text as they were in the middle of a live stream. Was pretty cool to watch them both working the phones in real time. Matt Freeman called in at one point to say he had the Rees news and wanted to run with it, but Frank wanted more concrete information.

Rasputin thinks Rees should ask the pilot to buzz the LSU athletic facilities on the way. Maybe tow Irish Envy banner too.

I hear Rees is heading down and taking their industrial copier.

Rees is putting in the time to recruit! Glad he stayed on board at ND.

sounds like the visit went really well, Rees, Del, O’Leary, Mickens and Bowden flew down in the PJ and attended practice. Freeman and Rees expected back on Thursday.
