That sucks and I'll wish him well, but I don't think all will be lost if Abiara isn't in the class. I guess we'll need to wait and see though, as now Elston will need to grab another player instead of only fishing for a single elite pass rusher.

I don't … I hope that he 'sucks' in college!

Im starting to learn not to expect too much from ndfb. They’ll have their special years here and there, but overall they will typically be nothing more than solid. They’re not winning a championship anytime soon. Sometimes I think they wont ever do it again to be honest lol. I get de commits happen every year and ND is likely to flip a guy or two in the end, but they’re still not on the same level as the big dogs and I dont think they ever will be. They wont sniff a top 5 class.

Sometimes you cant have both and ND tries to be elite academically and athletically, but it’s just not going to happen that way in football. I really believe you have to be one or the other and just accept your choice. I’d rather be pleasantly surprised by being wrong about this, but I don’t think I am and I’m not going to hold my breath. It is what it is. Elite school with good football. The elite football is in the past and I do not see it being resurrected. Like I said, I’d love to be wrong here, but if I were to bet money I would not change my opinion one bit unless I just felt like losing money haha.

I’d bet if Urban Meyer was at ND right now with the same restrictions at BK he’d pump out top 5 classes at least in average rating. Pete Sampson has mentioned several times that one of the biggest myths about ND is they can’t get anyone in the school. I was just listening to the BGI podcast about how they were going after Camar Wheaton, TreVeyon Henderson, Will Shipley, Donovan Edwards, LJ Johnson, Lovasea Carroll, and Corey Kiner. Evan Pryor (Ohio State commit) has a bunch of high academic offers. That makes 8 of the top 11 RB recruits in the country (247 Composite) either have offers or probably the books to be able to get an offer from ND. ND’s got some non-football factory qualities that kids just won’t want but still if you had Urban Meyer and Tony Alford on ND’s staff you’d have 1-2 of those guys. This staff has limitations with recruiting unfortunately and it starts at the top. Think they’re a really good program and BK’s a hell of a ball coach but he’s not the recruiter that the top 5 programs have as HC’s.

I used to be here but then Dabo/Venables, Deshaun Watson, ND's 16 Class, Lea and 5*Phil came along. I saw a similar, repeatable formula that is still alive because Buchner replaced Phil in the equation.

Lol its not just this situation. Its been 30 years. Dont bring up 2012 and 2018 cause it was real obv they didnt belong. Look at the record vs top 15. Its a joke. Keep dreamin. Someones gotta I guess. I still always root for ND, but lets be real...they’re nothing special in football and havent been my entire life. Tradition and history only takes you so far. Eventually no one cares about 1988 anymore. Just gets old pretending for so long. I accept what it is and believe what I believe. So far recent history is on my side.

Oh man take some Zoloft or something. It’s a single 3 star/low 4 star recruit who decommited. Decommits happen to every team. Even to the Alabama’s and OSU’s. Hope you don’t mind me asking but how old are you? I was alive in 1988 but had just finished being breast fed. So I have not seen a national title in my lifetime. But, I have seen some pretty good entertaining years.

I would like to think that the ND staff is working hard behind the scenes to keep him on board or get him back in the fold right?

Part two, how confident are we that he is going to jump ship? Is it a done deal? Sorry if I missed it, I haven't seen anything official.

1. Probably to some degree but not sure it matters. It's time to move on. Time to find someone that wants to be at ND and values the time and resources of our staff and program. That's about the nicest way I can put this.

2. These things are, usually, final just not public when this trend happens. Someone was told this is happening just not when. But, nothing 'official' or public yet.

Well Tom Loy's confidence level for his OU crystal ball is a 9.

Didn't even know who this kid is...........I've learned that following recruiting too closely will ruin your day/ week.
This crap gets way to fluid for me to enjoy following or getting too invested.

Can anyone explain how Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee, arguably the 5th/ 6th best job in that conference, is busting balls and recruiting at such a high level while ND struggles to keep guys on board?

Pruitt heavily involved in recruiting personally. Basically The Vols are playing their Ace right now rather than waiting to the later end of this recruiting season. They are gonna try and hang on to as many as they can basically, that's their strategy

Your part 1 is peoples biggest gripe isn't it? That we don't work hard enough?

That's not how it was intended to sound. So my apologies if it was taken that way. We did all we could here. Recruited the heck out of the kid, got in early, got him on campus early, Elston got 2 commitments out of him (one being public) and ultimately it looks he'll side with HS coach and play for his alma mater. Not much more can be done.

The staff could be better than OU at developing D line talent, that'd help. Outside of Gallimore this year, I cannot remember the last OU D lineman to be drafted

Gotcha, thanks for clearing it up. I am not a fan of waiving the white flag, and think we should keep on him. He committed for a reason in the first place. Is he picking a school because that is what he wants? That is what we need to get down to, if you know what I mean.

I haven't seen anything, but noticed he's no longer listed as a commit on 247. I still him on Rivals. Just checked his twitter and it sill has the 100% committed to ND pinned lol...

Previous to his ND commitment he was a heavy OU lean. If he's going to decommit, obvious that OU would be his choice, and Norman is a 3 hour drive up the road. Not hard for OU to get him back than for ND to hold on to him...but we also have a ways to go and this cycle will be different than any ever seen.

247 has him as decommitted. Weird cause there’s no announcement on twitter or anything

There’s never been a better opportunity to build a fence around your state. Not saying Tennessee is a gold mine of recruits on par w/ FL, GA, LA, etc; but the Vols have struggled lately keeping their in-state guys. The state of Tenn is also in close proximity to the rest of the south so if COVID is a deterrent to prospects who previously were looking nationally, UT offers a good opportunity regionally. And I suspect Pruitt is a hands on recruiter...that has to help.

Lol It makes me feel better knowing that he was 100% committed before he decided to decommit tho. RKG.

UT has a great stadium/facility, great campus, a ton of devoted fans, and a ton of money... Purely my opinion, but they have had all the ingredients except a coach. Not saying Pruitt is a great coach, but he is a good recruiter, and an upgrade at coach compared to what they've had.

I wouldn't put the state of TN (recruiting talent wise) on par with GA or FL, but it's as good or better than the rest of SEC states (I really don't count TX lol).

This year, their best 3 commits (1 5star, 2 high 4stars) are from FL, AL, and GA. Their highest ranked kid from TN is their 13th highest ranked commit right now.

Yeah but he was under the radar like all our other 3s,......

truly a gem... would have been stud for ND
