He has a very legitimate chance (103 yards I think?) to break the single season rushing record at ND.

With RBs getting less carry’s & sharing the load at RB, and CFP being a passing game more, I don’t know if anyone will approach that record for a long time, if ever.

And having your name attached to a Notre Dame football record is eternal.
His name could be discussed long after all of us are long gone if he breaks that record.

I think he should play and get that record.
How many people here under 60 would know who Vegas Ferguson was if not for his record?

If ND plays LSU, makes me think how many of the potential opt-outs may decide to play in the game

Last night felt like Audric’s farewell. And that’s just fine.

I completely disagree with this unless JP and Love go for 150+ each and ND rolls LSU in the Sparkplug Bowl.

If that happens, adios Audric.

The next Bettis, can't wait to watch him at the next level. I do wonder if he doesn't sit out the bowl, that's why I wanted to be sure I got to see him last night if it was his last run for ND.

I’m sure it’ll get captured in an ND media video somehwere but after his 4th TD he ran up to an ND cameraman and hit them with the 1, 2, 3, 4 signifying his 4 TD’s on the evening. That’ll make for a great moment.

Under 45 would be more apt. I’m 52 and remember Vegas. Had a nice rookie season w/ the Patriots but didn’t have a long NFL career.

Right. JP & Love can be special & I look forward to what they can do as featured backs but assuming they won’t miss the physicality of Estime is setting themselves up for disappointment.

He should do what he feels is best for him. Remove the potential for regret. My personal opinion is he should sit. With Jonathan Brooks tearing his ACL, another rung up the RB1 ladder.

The allure of being a record holder at ND is not going to make the decision easy.

Super easy decision- he should sit out the bowl game. John Brice mentioned Deland probably wouldn't let him play even if he wanted to

I’m 45. I was born late 70’s.
He played at ND in the mid-late 70’s.
My first year of watching ND was Holtz’s first year, ‘86.
I had no idea who he was.
Playing at ND until 79 & playing a few seasons in the NFL from 80-82 will not ring a bell for 99.9% of people 50-55. They were infants/toddlers while he was at ND & children when drafted.

Of course we will miss Estime but he is leaving either way and I’m happy to see him go out with a game like that, and to see what the next guys can do.

Julius Jones type of single game performance. Josh Adams 2017 also came to mind. He ended up carrying the game in the end.

I don't see how he comes back, but we live in different times now. Curious to see what he does next.

Five years ago, leaders skipping the bowl game would be discussed nationally on ESPN. Now it’s the new normal and no one even cares. Sign of the times, I suppose.

Disney / ESPN single handily did this by only emphasizing the CFP. Wasn’t a thing until shortly after the transition from BCS.
If Audric freakin’ Estime isn’t going to play in the bowl then we shouldn’t expect any player with draft aspirations to ever play in a non-playoff bowl again.

Yep. I don't blame the players, or "the times." I blame when the entire damn sport became about making the playoffs.

We were endlessly told the bowl games are "meaningless" and your season was basically over with your second loss. Why risk the injury? Then the portal put lighter fluid on it all. I'm actually kind of surprised more guys don't bag games at the end of the regular season. I guess the 12-team playoff will help a bit, but if you don't make that why bother at all?
