yeah that was said awhile ago, but he's never experienced that. Lets be honest, taking a car is much easier. Distance wins/won out here. Its that simple. You can say what you want about ND recruiting, but they literally gave this one everything they had. Sounds like he could announce anytime next month.

Okay well if that's the case its a rookie mistake from Taylor not to be recruiting anyone else hard. If some kid is deciding between ND and a power house like Clemson or Ohio State then they should be all over the back up plans as well.

Interesting.

Either they're hearing good things from the current commits... or this is their big 'pump the sunshine for clicks' recruitment of the year now that COVID has made the recruiting battle a weird one.

I get a feeling that the Irish win this. Buchner, Tyree, Shipley, I think that's the time ND gets its next National Title.

Has his upcoming scheduled visit been officially cancelled? Or is it just assumed it will be due to the ongoing shut down of things?

It hasn’t been cancelled but it’s assumed he may not make it as he may commit to Clemson beforehand. However, if he commits to ND then it’s another story.

It’s kind of a bizarre situation if you ask me.

Clemson - 6/6/18, 6/5/19, 9/7/19, 11/16/19, 1/25/20, 3/7/20
Notre Dame - 10/12/19

That’s the biggest issue. Found out his brother is a freshman at Penn which is cool. I thought he’d been to Clemson 3 times but I didn’t know he’d been there that many times when I looked it up. Hopefully he ends up Irish cause the staff is busting their tails with him. Also he’s 2h30m from Clemson and a 1h30m direct flight from Charlotte to South Bend. I really hope he lets this play out longer. I know there’s an angst to get it done with but neither staff is moving off of him and he can just take his time until the late summer and maybe sneak a visit in to ND. It’s easy for me to say with 3 phone calls a day coming from ND and Clemson probably which has to wear on somebody. We’ll see. I’m keeping my hopes up.

Which way are you leaning? I have a hard time trusting Loy as I know he can be a bit of a homer. This just seems like one we never win.

ISD still predicts ND. They haven't said much about him recently

Loy is still on ND, but is starting to see it trend to Clemson. Sites Distance.

Anna Hickey is 100% positive its Clemson

Wiltfong is on Clemson

ISD and 247 do not think the ND visit happens. He is done with the process.

This has a little bit of a Terry Jillary vibe to me. If you remember, Tillary had made a lot more trips to LSU than he ever did to ND. He was also seen sporting LSU gear a lot and most thought he was going to end up a Tiger.

I know you didn't ask me, but I still think we pull this one out. I don't trust Loy much either, but you never know.

She's just doing her job, but I'm beginning to hate her name.

She seems like a homer and her team happens to be going through their "moment", so she's almost always correct about delivering bad news to other teams.

One would think, that if ND wasn't confident or had some idea that it might not go their way, that they would have offers out to other RB's. One would think we would hear more about ND kicking the tires on others.
Right?

If he chooses Clemson then he cannot visit ND in June. Dabo's policy in recent years is that anyone committed to Clemson can't visit other schools:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nc...r-committed-to-clemson/ar-BB12Zo9G?li=BBnb7Kz

I think ND is going to put up a dog fight here especially if they are not recruiting anyone else at RB behind the scenes. Even if he commits to Clemson, I don't see ND going away easily.

If the June visits get cancelled in June because of the COVID-19 then I don't like our chances (31 more deaths today just in Indiana because of the COVID) otherwise if the visits are on, ND will roll out the red carpet.

I am still 50/50 on this one.

The risk to the June visit isn’t Covid-19, it’s whether Shipley commits beforehand to Clemson or not. All signs point to him committing before June because he’s essentially telling everyone that. He only comes on that visit if he commits to ND. Somewhat of a bizarre situation, IMO.

Basically we don’t really know squat!!! He really hasn’t played his hand publicly to anyone. The best indicator we have...If BF stops playing online games with him, then that will tell the story.

I guess I wouldn't categorize it like this, at all. I think we actually know quite a bit about his recruitment and what he's thinking. We just don't know the ultimate decision because one hasn't been made yet.

Perhaps it's because I'm holding out hope, but if he's been to Clemson that many times and he still hasn't committed, what's holding him back? He's seen ND, so he feels like he needs to see something there again before he feels good about committing to Clemson? Doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not an 18 year old kid.

Also, Clemson doesn't need help any recruiting lol.

Matt Freeman from ISD mentioned in one of the threads on Shipley that the reason he wanted to visit in June was to get insight on the academic side and to mingle with the team. But he managed to Zoom with Adam Sargent, a few professors and with Balis, which seems to have satisfied those questions.

Probably doesn't replace an authentic in-person visit, but it's definitely something.

Yeah, I suppose hope springs eternal, but I find it really hard to see Shipley having to tell Fisher, Buchner and coach Taylor all that he's not coming. He's very close with all of them. Relationships matter and it's definitely not a stretch to say his relationships with ND's corner is a lot stronger.

I'm fending off the HMII feelings, but I think ND's made up a lot of ground lately and has the guys in their corner to pull this off.

Everything besides deciding last minute to go home on a Friday afternoon in the off-season should say ND. When Lawrence is gone, there's no guarantee DJ Ukulele is gonna be THAT guy. Is a 1:4 chance of winning a ring more important than your best shot at the League? You go to school to learn how to make a living, not to receive a group attaboy. There's only ONE coach in history to develop a Christian McCaffrey... and he wants you Mr. Shipley.
