reminder his HC is Ron Bellamy former SCUM Wolverine. Regardless of how shitty Harbaugh and Co. are right now I still think it will be an extremely tough pull to get Edwards out of state
Agreed. I get tough pull. If there was ever a year though...
His Top 7:
Penn St - 0-4 currently, could finish 4-5 however. In the top group with South Carolina and FSU for 4 star, #13 RB Ke'Travion Hargrove. What a MASH unit of a top group...
Oklahoma - They are about to land the #1 rated back, Camar Wheaton, and they dropped from the top 25 for a couple weeks due to their shaky start. He hasn't visited campus. He has a good relationship with cornerback coach Roy Manning who is a Michigan native and scUM alum.
Georgia - Already hold the commitment from the #6 back, Lovasea Carroll, and knocked out of the SEC East race by Florida, landed 2 RBs in 2020 class. He has been quoted with loving their NFL RB pedigree. RB coach and co offensive coordinator Dell McGee has done a nice job here.
Alabama - Having another typical Bama year. 13th straight year rated #1 at some point during the season. Brought in 3 RBs in 2020 including the #6 and #9 players at that position, but do not currently hold a RB in 2021. Interesting. Their recruiting beat writers don't list Edwards as a "name to know." Has not visited campus.
LSU - Pulled one midwest RB recruit already, #7 RB Corey Kiner, won the title last year and were talent gutted this year. Coach recently dealing with Title IX allegations.
Michigan - Leaking oil, dumpster fire, rudderless..you name it. They are the home team however, as mentioned above. His first big offer, 4/17/18. His HS coach is an Alum. Former teammate and friend, Makari Paige, signed there in 2020. There is already a RB commit in 3 star, #22 at his position Tavierre Dunlap. Only 3 of the top 13 in state players are committed.
Notre Dame - Run oriented team. Joe Moore winning offensive line potentially 2 out of the last 4 years, #1 OL prospect in his state has committed to ND, knocked off the #1 team in the country snapping their 36 game regular season winning streak, undefeated to date. Only 3 RBs on the current roster. Hold a commitment from the #31 RB, Logan Diggs. Swung and missed on #1 APB Will Shipley until he committed to Clemson on 5/5/20, likely messed up the recruitment by not making him feel like a priority and lack of communication early on.
-He was trending to Ohio St. Took a visit on 9/22/18 and was offered on the spot. Visited again 6/21/19 and on 3/6/20, but then the #2 APB Evan Pryor committed to OSU on 3/16/20 and the #2 RB TreVeyon Henderson, who never visited campus, shortly followed on 3/27/20 essentially dropping the Buckeyes as an option. He visited Georgia on 2/1/20, ND 12/14/19, LSU 7/29/19. He wants to be an early enrollee, so crunch time is between now and 12/18/20.
-He was a Michigan kid who was interested in OSU and the SEC. Michigan is putting an awful product on the field throwing their coaching staff's future into question. This may be evidence he isn't drinking the kool-aid and is open to spurn the local school and leave the state. ND recruiters are looking for those types of kids willing to look beyond State U. Actually getting it to happen and closing is difficult but Michigan isn't giving him a reason to stay with their play right now. ND is in the midst of one of its top 3 years in over 25 years with a young OC and charismatic RB coach/recruiter. Besides the slip up with the poor recruitment regarding Shipley, the stars are aligned. If it doesn't happen, it was never going to happen. Sometimes its a "poor fit". Having said that, get one of Detroit's favorite sons, Jerome Bettis, on campus to bump into him if they reel Edwards down one more time.
