I've said for awhile that even if he doesn't end up at Notre Dame, he definitely doesn't end up Michigan. I just really get the vibe that he's looking for any reason to spurn them.

UGA and a few other SEC schools feel the same way

Harbaugh had every chance with his recruiting momentum fun the summer to have a great class.... So much for that

Edwards scored six first-half touchdowns, including five in the first 16 minutes, as the Lakers crushed Sterling Heights Stevenson in the Division 1 district finals, 63-6, at Stevenson’s Runkel Field on Saturday.

He has been quoted many times about focusing on his season/playoffs before focusing on recruiting. As the article above mentions, Belleville has beaten his high school the past two seasons and this year features the top player in the state, Bama commit DT Damon Payne. Cass Tech is always loaded with future Div 1 players as well.

If it wraps up on 11/28 or even 12/5, we should still be riding all the recent momentum and have a good idea where his recruitment stands shortly.

Thanks for the info. This would be a good pickup

They don’t look much alike, and the older player is from Alabama with the younger player from Michigan...don’t all Americans relocate to the coasts and south nowadays?

They just postponed the Michigan playoffs tonight

Interesting. Good opportunity for available time to take some calls and a zoom meeting with coaches you already have an established relationship with who are part of an undefeated, #2 team in the country on a campus you already visited, that’s within a 3 hour car ride to your home, and where there are top offensive line recruits committing yearly along with a RB depth chart your freshman consists of a senior, junior who may leave early, a sophomore who is a smaller, speed back to compliment your style, and a lower ranked back in your class....no italics.

reminder his HC is Ron Bellamy former SCUM Wolverine. Regardless of how shitty Harbaugh and Co. are right now I still think it will be an extremely tough pull to get Edwards out of state

A lot on here think he's heading out of state (GA seems the flavor of the week). The only thing that gives me pause about him going to UM is the fact that there will be a new coach and whoever it is can sell him on the new system and new face of the new offense blah blah blah.

Agreed. I get tough pull. If there was ever a year though...

His Top 7:

Penn St - 0-4 currently, could finish 4-5 however. In the top group with South Carolina and FSU for 4 star, #13 RB Ke'Travion Hargrove. What a MASH unit of a top group...

Oklahoma - They are about to land the #1 rated back, Camar Wheaton, and they dropped from the top 25 for a couple weeks due to their shaky start. He hasn't visited campus. He has a good relationship with cornerback coach Roy Manning who is a Michigan native and scUM alum.

Georgia - Already hold the commitment from the #6 back, Lovasea Carroll, and knocked out of the SEC East race by Florida, landed 2 RBs in 2020 class. He has been quoted with loving their NFL RB pedigree. RB coach and co offensive coordinator Dell McGee has done a nice job here.

Alabama - Having another typical Bama year. 13th straight year rated #1 at some point during the season. Brought in 3 RBs in 2020 including the #6 and #9 players at that position, but do not currently hold a RB in 2021. Interesting. Their recruiting beat writers don't list Edwards as a "name to know." Has not visited campus.

LSU - Pulled one midwest RB recruit already, #7 RB Corey Kiner, won the title last year and were talent gutted this year. Coach recently dealing with Title IX allegations.

Michigan - Leaking oil, dumpster fire, rudderless..you name it. They are the home team however, as mentioned above. His first big offer, 4/17/18. His HS coach is an Alum. Former teammate and friend, Makari Paige, signed there in 2020. There is already a RB commit in 3 star, #22 at his position Tavierre Dunlap. Only 3 of the top 13 in state players are committed.

Notre Dame - Run oriented team. Joe Moore winning offensive line potentially 2 out of the last 4 years, #1 OL prospect in his state has committed to ND, knocked off the #1 team in the country snapping their 36 game regular season winning streak, undefeated to date. Only 3 RBs on the current roster. Hold a commitment from the #31 RB, Logan Diggs. Swung and missed on #1 APB Will Shipley until he committed to Clemson on 5/5/20, likely messed up the recruitment by not making him feel like a priority and lack of communication early on.

-He was trending to Ohio St. Took a visit on 9/22/18 and was offered on the spot. Visited again 6/21/19 and on 3/6/20, but then the #2 APB Evan Pryor committed to OSU on 3/16/20 and the #2 RB TreVeyon Henderson, who never visited campus, shortly followed on 3/27/20 essentially dropping the Buckeyes as an option. He visited Georgia on 2/1/20, ND 12/14/19, LSU 7/29/19. He wants to be an early enrollee, so crunch time is between now and 12/18/20.

-He was a Michigan kid who was interested in OSU and the SEC. Michigan is putting an awful product on the field throwing their coaching staff's future into question. This may be evidence he isn't drinking the kool-aid and is open to spurn the local school and leave the state. ND recruiters are looking for those types of kids willing to look beyond State U. Actually getting it to happen and closing is difficult but Michigan isn't giving him a reason to stay with their play right now. ND is in the midst of one of its top 3 years in over 25 years with a young OC and charismatic RB coach/recruiter. Besides the slip up with the poor recruitment regarding Shipley, the stars are aligned. If it doesn't happen, it was never going to happen. Sometimes its a "poor fit". Having said that, get one of Detroit's favorite sons, Jerome Bettis, on campus to bump into him if they reel Edwards down one more time.

I think he just changed to "warm" on 247.

Also, saw this today.

Along with their updated rankings, 247 needed a refresh on his profile. Michigan St, who wasn’t in his listed top 7 almost 4 weeks ago, was listed as warm.

Whether we land him or not. Easy to see Camar Wheaton picking Oklahoma, and then they drop out. We’re solidly in the top 3 if not likely ahead of Georgia at this point. That should qualify as warm.

Loy on OFD podcast:

-"don't get your hopes up"... buttttt positive signs
-was going to Ohio St
-looking for reasons to not go to Michigan, and ND
-Clemson game changed the convo
-likely stays closer to home after all
-ND/scUM
-ND is safer football option but early PT and strong 2021 class at scUM lead by McCarthy is appealing
-staff planning time for bye week push

He’s signing early. Early signing period is Dec. 16-18. Michigan could be under .500 on the year and just have gotten crushed by OSU the week before. ND could be playing in the ACC championship the following day. Hope this works out.

Anyone considering scUM over ND right now may not be smart enough to get into ND

lol...........If he watched any of the Wiscy scUM game he should have a good idea that scUM is a dumpster fire right now, Jimmy looks disinterested and there's a good chance he probably won't be there after this year.

Even if you get early playing time, losing on a regular basis can wear on you.

I don't care if he goes to Trump University. Just don't go to scUM. I mean honestly as a RB why would you look there? They are rotating through 4 RBs every game, how does one RB develop a rhythm into the flow of the game. Pick one and go with it.

PS: Harbaugh will be at um next year, unless he leaves for the NFL, which by all accounts not many teams are interested.

Good news with Donovan Edwards is that he did meet Lance Taylor in person last December. Downside is he's never been to a game at ND which is always an experience. Hopefully he can come back to campus for a dead period visit and maybe meet some of the recruits. I'm pretty hopeful after hearing Loy's comments on his recruitment. UGA already has a borderline top 100 recruit committed for 2021 and their depth chart is loaded (SR 5* James Cook, RS JR 5* Zamir White, JR 4* Kenny McIntosh, SO 5* Kendall Milton, SO 3* Daijun Edwards, FR 4* Lovasea Carroll). Oklahoma likely has Camar Wheaton close to committing to them which would give them a 5* RB recruit and hopefully knock them out of contention. That really leaves Michigan and Notre Dame and I'm hopeful ND can beat out Michigan!

Thanks for the rundown. If it really comes down to UM vs ND you have to like our odds.
