I will be at the Irsay Y today.

Looks like I need to officiate a beef?
Haha. I thought that this was a message board full of adults but I should have known better. This def falls on me. I should have known by thinking that someone would start that by default I would be said kids mom.

“Ho brah! You got beef! No thanks I’m a vegetarian!”.

Seriously though, I’m down to see who can do the most jumping jacks.

A very underrated exercise in my opinion.

“That dude won’t see the field ever here. He was picked either last or second to last in the spring game. I was super pumped on him but he was mis evaluated out of high school.”

Adulting!

Much of what I’ve heard about Spindler has been from Prister. He was extremely down on him - has said he doesn’t think he will ever see meaningful minutes at Notre Dame. Prister had him as his top recruit of his class I believe too
Prister is on the up for Spindler.
I reckon it’s looking like he will start at right guard. Which is great.

He said that he is no longer down on him as much. And that he was told Spindler spent the first four days of spring camp on the ground, & now he is better.
So Prister is just saying his opinion that Spindler will never play at ND is changing, not that he thinks he will start.
Nobody knows what Rudolph will do until next week.

Yup, we are still in the lab phase of camp.

I'm counting on the accuracy of recent posts, but it seems to me that:
A. We are WAY beyond the "lab phase" in this OLine creation;
B. Coach Rudolph has used the last week as a minor "lab" week to give his top two subs a focused look; and
C. In doing so has told us that his top 7 guys are Alt, Correll, Fisher, Schrauth, Kristovic, Spindler, and Wagner.

Since Kristovic was tried as first-man-in tackle in the minor lab, and he and Wagner can both be viewed as back-up
tackles, those seven might currently be viewed as the "playing time OLine" (perhaps add a second team center.)
I'm (in my ignorance) very happy with that. I'm counting on both Fisher and Correll to make a strong step forward,
for Kristovic to step in with seamless understanding, and Schrauth to be a muscled mauler. Both Spindler and Wagner
should be strong enough physically and athletic enough, to be good subs. If Correll and Fisher come through, we
should be a top OLine.

Sounds like Rudolph likes to play around with different positions and alternate 1s and 2s quite frequently.

HH was completely different in that aspect. Found his 5 and stuck with them. 2s with 2s, 3s with 3s.

Rudolph also, according to reports, likes to tinker with his lineups in camp. By Navy week we should know who who are the #1s and #2's. Just relax and give it another week.

Any thoughts on Coogan repping with 1st team LG the last viewing session? Prister and O’Malley seemed a little surprised by it.

Think Rocco is the man to beat at RG. He was in the doghouse with HH which is why some of these talking heads are critical of him. Sounds like he’s made a lot of strides and may be better suited with our new emphasis on zone blocking and getting more lateral.

Quinn recruited Rocco & coached him his freshman year, and was last in the rotation for Quinn too.
Then HH didn’t like him at all.
Then, according to Rudolph, Rocco was on the ground the first 4 days of the spring too, not doing well.
But Rudolph says Rocco has improved & is battling for a spot.

Rocco & Kristofic both will play.

It’s been reported each year that the staff likes Coogan a lot. I thought he might be the future Center.

Rocco could've taken the easy road and transferred because of no PT. Since Rudolph got hired we are hearing more optimistic Rocco news. I am rooting for the guard positions to go to Rocco and Billy.

Coogan was at LG with the ones, doubt he starts but there’s that too!

I on the other hand, am rooting for the guard positions to go to the two best AAs-to-be on the team.
(I don't care what their names are as none of them are grand-nephews.)
(FWIW, Coogan sounds like a nice Irish boy several times removed. :).
but as the old slapstick comedian might have said "It's not wise to say no to a man named Rocco.")

Coogan seems a little light still in weight. But some of those best Denver Bronco zone o lines were smaller but nimble guys under Shanahan. So who knows. Rudolph’s lines at Wisconsin definitely didn’t have too many lighter guys.

It’s been reported that Ashton Craig has been working as the second team center, and feedback has been good given he is a redshirt-freshman. He looks to be the heir apparent to Correll.

You are right…

I got Craig & Coogan mixed up in my tiny little dinosaur brain.

Everything I said about Coogan, I meant about Craig.

Damn C’s…

Hes still very young with lots of development ahead of him. Glad too see the young man making the most of it.
