I think the difference is this isn't a family of Michigan fans. Marc Spindler is from PA and went to Pitt. With McGregor, I think we all just underestimated how much fandom played a part in that recruitment. Since Pitt isn't involved, doesn't seem like that will be an issue.

Of note, Jamie U at ISD came out with his Fab 50 yesterday and he has Dellinger ahead of Spindler. That got my attention. Starting to think that ND should just go all in there as well.

The reasons schools have backed off is because of the 2 shoulder injuries which it sounds like he's fully recovered from. Jamie noted that he didn't take any of that into account when rating him. That could be right or wrong here, who knows at this point. Just went over the tape/camp film he's seen and he thinks that highly of him.

His old man isn't on good terms with Pitt since he left early to go to the NFL when they were under investigation by the NCAA.

It seems he's been playing a lot of ND cards behind the scenes over the past month that I haven't been paying attention too because I wrote him off in Jan/Feb.

Freeman predicted him to ND a long time ago, Dec/Jan?

Loy broke ranks with the rest of the 247 guys (all Michigan analysts) a month ago but no one followed and Trieu hasn't flipped his year old MI CB.

Brian Smith from SI predicted him to ND too.

Driskell said the success of the entire OL class hinges on Spindler committing and even if he does, this class is a letdown compared to what it was supposed to be. Anytime you get two Top 50 guys in a 4 man class, you have a HELLUVA class, even if the other two are Koon & Circa.

I dunno. Driskell is a little too black or white on a lot of things, but I don't think this is one of them. This was supposed to be the OL class of all OL classes. Just my 2¢

If we have football this year, and if the OL plays as well as they should, I wouldn’t be surprised if we snag another quality player late.

What's most frustrating about Tengwall is the info was right here in this thread long before HH got on his horse. In that time, Tengwall fell in love with Franklin & Happy Valley so much so that an OL Coaching change meant nothing.

Of course, Quinn gets the L unless you score it like baseball.

I have a theory, and it’s just a long shot theory, but I have a feeling this 2021 class is gonna have more flips late in the cycle than any previous cycle at least in the last decade due to this recruiting period. I could be way off but I think some guys are gonna rethink committing without a visit to certain schools.

I would like to remind people with this list that the ND OL class is FAR from set at this point. Also, of the two guys who did commit to other schools (Tengwall and Milum), they committed to their local schools that they had a comfort with. Who’s to say in 6 months the used car salesman vibe wears off on Tengwall and he wants to come visit ND? And maybe Milum isn’t all in on the WV rebuild and doesn’t mind the drive to ND. There’s a lot of time and a lot of moving pieces with the OLine class. That’s why I really hope ND doesn’t get rash and start throwing out a bunch of offers to lower level guys to fill spots. I think they’ve got a legit shot at Spindler, Fisher and then I’d spend the rest of time focusing on Rucci, flipping Milum or Tengwall, or maybe grabbing a Dellinger/Coogan/Johnson/Davidkov. Lots of time.

Yes. Good points. I do totally think that the theory could be a long shot because of the fact that 1) OLineman tend to commit earlier than other positions for whatever reason (outside of QB) 2) OLineman don’t decommit as much as other position groups. So this Coronavirus is definitely terrible timing for ND recruiting and they likely won’t be able to get those guys back on campus for a long time but it’s still worth watching. I’m not losing all hope on ND grabbing a really amazing OLine class.

Last draft that included an OL from Penn State that went on to earn Pro Bowl status was when Sandusky was still prowling the sidelines. In fact, it was Lou's last season at ND.

There was a Notre Dame Watch party Saturday night. Replayed the Snow Bowl game on You Tube. The throw Meier made on the 2pt conversion was unbelievable. Backpedaling under pressure and nailed it. I had totally forgotten about it and how good of an arm he had.
