Apparently, Jarrett Patterson mentioned that Diggs is pretty vocal with the OL if they aren't doing things right. Kelly had this to say.

Everything Brian Kelly Said Thursday Before Notre Dame vs. Navy (247sports.com)

"Logan is an interesting young man. He's quiet in some respects. But one of the things that he has a very strong opinion on is what goes on in front of him. He makes his opinion heard. And he's right. He's got a good football IQ and he's not afraid to talk those guys in the right way. He does it in the right way and they have a pretty good relationship early on in his time here. I hadn't quite seen that before, but Jarrett Patterson is right. It caused a little bit of an early pushback, but they've got a great relationship now."

I guess somebody has to do Quinn's job for him.

I thought it was pretty interesting for a freshman to be vocal in that way and glad it has ended up being a positive.

Maybe this is a strech but looking at the future of Diggs-Tyree&Estime , could this be something like Waters-Brooks&Bettis. We obvuously haven't seen Estime play other than a few snaps as a FB. He is 5'11" 230lbs. When he changed from MSU to ND they spoke about how hard he ran and knocked people over! So that backfield could become very versatile in the near future is Estime plays as expected. Time will tell.

Don’t sleep on Price. Could be instant contributor.

Quoting for posterity. Price gives me similar feels to Kyren.

Very different players but pure RBs with really good vision. Price has more acceleration. Kyren has incredible contact balance and wiggle so I doubt price can match that but he doesn't need to.

Kyren's gone, Diggs is RB1 next year. Change my mind.

I think Tyree is the starter when healthy. Though I could see a fairly equal touch count with whoever the RB2 (Diggs) is so it doesn't really matter.

I made the argument during Fall Camp that figuring out next years RB2 was very important, during the season, and it seems like we have done that whether it's Tyree or Diggs. So, it's a win either way.

Tyree is listed on ND's site as 5'9" 190lbs. At best he shares RB1 duties with Diggs and Audric Estime as the clear power back. We might see more Tyree split wide with Diggs or Estime in the backfield.

Short of bringing in a Derrick Henry clone - I like a two RB rotation with a third not far behind to step in if/when one of the top dogs gets banged up. Keep them fresh and healthy.

Like what I have seen from Diggs so far.

I think it helps recruiting - RB is not a long shelf life position. Show enough in your three years in college without walking in to the league with too high of a snap count.

funny anecdote on ISD, Diggs has been known apparently to let the OL know when they aren't playing well lol

chris tyree will be the starter next year. tyree has superior speed, great vision, can catch the ball well, can put a move on a defender. diggs is good but not tyree good.

Maybe, but can he block? Is he patient like Diggs? Logan has incredible vision, he looks like a veteran the way he waits for his blockers, then makes a cut and gets upfield. Tyree has speed in spades, but we've seen countless times in the past that BK doesn't favor speed in his RB1. He wants a complete and steady back, and I think that's Diggs.

Idk where this doubt of Tyree has come about recently for people. Tyree has had games I thought he looked better than Kyren at times and certainly possess vision. You can’t break a run purely on speed you gotta have somewhere to run first. 8,9,9, 8, 18, 21 those are some of the YPC Tyree had last year. He essentially hasn’t gotten a shot with our improved OL and O this year. Not even factoring in pass prowess. Idk how were questioning his patience versus that of Logan Diggs small sample size versus rather weak run Ds, not to discredit him.

You are right. I wonder if there is not a bit of a Lenzy hang over going on. Where the speed has not materialized on anything like what was expected and also shown once or twice. That is def true of Lenzy so it may be getting projected onto Tyree even though he was dang good last year while this year like you said he hasn't had a chance with the new and improved line. Hopefully he stays healthy and start showing it.

For 2022 overall, “RB1” is a looooose term. I’d almost think of Ole Miss’s run game, not the plays necessarily but if it is Buchner sure we can call someone RB1 but that’d be more like between the tackles running back 1. Buchner will take carries. Diggs will get carries. Tyree will get touches. Estime like a Snoop Connor may get touches. So who is hot in a given game? How is the D reacting to certain reads if we lean heavier RPO? Will be a pretty large mixed bag but it’d feel comfortable expecting Tyree is near the top of it.

Tyree played against by far the best defenses on our schedule. He'd probably have ripped the last couple if he played. I think Diggs has a mature demeanor but he looks slow, like slower than C'bo even.

He can still be a good RB, but Tyree is better.

Patience I'll give you, he looks natural at it and uses his blockers well. Getting up field? I don't see that at all. His quickness in the hole and cuts were unimpressive if I'm being honest. Looked like a significant downshift in athleticism and not just because Kyren was in front of him. I thought he looked very unsudden, or whatever you want to call it.

lol, he's not slower than C'Bo. Or at least, I really don't think so

He probably looks slow because he uses his blockers and is patient. When the hole opens up he makes one cut and goes. It's rare to see a freshman RB with that sense, he's looked like a veteran these last few weeks. On top of that he has blocked well in his limited action. Tyree is certainly quicker and gifted, but I don't know if I've ever seen him wait for a play to develop like that. He's usually trying to break away as soon as the ball touches his fingers and the blockers may not be setup yet.

I've seen people time and time again question why guys like GA III, Greg Bryant, and Dexter Williams were losing reps while Cam McDaniel, Josh Adams, and Tony Jones got the start. This is no different. BK prefers the steady hand and a complete back, and I think Diggs is that next guy once Kyren is gone. That's all I'm saying.
