He's been very inconsistent this year and last year played better... not seeing the hype

Our entire oline is struggling due to Parker allowing every team to just tee off all game to the same frichan spot of a hand off or throw, with clear tendencies on which one it will be

Loy and Prister dropping hints he might decide to enter the draft.
That would be dumb and I would say “meh” and root for the next guy in. He has been near atrocious at times this year in pass defense

Unless he’s unhappy with the program and his coaching, he really has no reason to leave.

The NBC broadcast said during the game yesterday that Freeman’s pitch to Fisher to return was “come back and be the left tackle”.

His upside and athletic traits may have him as a late Day 2 pick, but his play has been consistent enough. His tape is that of a fourth or fifth rounder.

Yeah I mean it would be a colossal mistake. But it wouldn’t be the first time a player makes a bad decision about leaving.

On the flip side, doesn't ND have a lot of defensive players who could utilize their covid year and play for ND next season? This would open a spot to get down to 85 with some sixth year guys hanging around.

Doubt he gets much better and next year if he is asked to play LT he will be exposed.

Strike while there is still hype and get paid young man. Hopefully he makes a roster and plays on Sundays.

We will be just fine without him. Next man up!

I would imagine him coming in as the much more heralded prospect but Alt passing him up as the much better pro prospect might have him feeling a certain way. Like he’s got something to prove.

If he wants to improve his stock he needs to come back next season.

If he leaves, we have plenty in the waiting.

It doesn't need to be an either/or with Fisher and, say, Jack Kiser. How many scholarship players did we open this season with? There is always, always, always, room.

Freeman can't because ND won't.

ND basketball brought in a transfer, Julian Roper, from NW who was 2 years out of HS when he hit the portal. So if basketball can bring in undergrad transfers who are more than 1 year out of HS then football should be able to as well. Is it because Roper came from an elite academic institution? Brandon Joseph didn't have his degree when he transferred, and he was also from NW, so that might be the reason. If that is the case, then ND should be able to bring in any undergrad transfer from an elite academic institution (Stanford, Northwestern, Duke, Vanderbilt). ND admissions need to be consistent.

If Freeman is able to call that out and ND can take any undergrad from one of those elite institutions that are on par with or superior to ND, then Bowden or someone else needs to immediately start tampering with the good undergrad players at those schools. Pretty much every school does it. That's why crystal ball predictions come in for the transfer destination when players immediately hit the portal, their new school was talking to them before they were even in the portal. Time to get on David Bailey and Elic Ayomanor from Stanford. ND is a better football program and can probably offer more money, I mean, provide more NIL opportunities, than Stanford can.

I certainly hope he comes back, but I never will fault someone for going pro. It’s gotta be pretty enticing to be able to just focus on football, even if you’re making money in college.

Come back and get a shot to put LT on film or get moved inside as a day 3 pick in the draft.

I can’t imagine using a draft pick first 5 rounds on him. He has potential but is not there and can’t start in the nfl right now, not even close to it.

I’d have to believe nfl is saying he’s a guard

O’Malley & Brice were hearing rumblings about Fisher declaring as well. He’s had a solid year at run blocking but his pass blocking needs to get better. Is he a guard at the next level? I can’t see him as LT next year at ND. Does he even want that?

100% a guard at the next level. Likely a guard on an elite cfb oline. If he embraced that move inside, look out.

I think Wagner is the next LT from an athletic perspective.

Question is, how do you get Fisher, Jagusah and Scrauth on the field? All three are arguably better guard prospects than tackles. Then you have Spindler, Coogan and now Craig who looks like a Nick Martin clone.

That's a lot of interior talent and a few bodies short at tackle.

If he leaves after this year it might be my most disappointing olinemen ever because I personally thought he was going to be dominant by his soph year, and he ended up being solid

Id argue that he hasn’t been solid. Has had some solid games, but overall, hes had some consistency issues. Bad games, average games, and good games.
