Not disagreeing with you here at all, but interestingly I was just reading an article dated a few days ago from a Georgia site that said they prefer Malcolm Johnson and Jayden Thomas over Colzie.

Thomas is really a different type of WR than Colzie. Something is up with Colzie though, in terms of how teams view him (anyone have any insight?).

GA specifically, already has a big WR (Mitchell) in the 2021 class, and had a huge WR haul (6) in 2020. Their plan is to only take two total this year, so guessing Mitchell's commitment closed the door on Colzie, or at least closed the door on another "big". Thomas also played S, returned, and was a wildcat QB/RB. Versatile kid.

Here's a recent article on Thomas.

Not Colzie or Thornton level, but it would be a grood get. And assuming he's a good fit at Pace, he'd be a good fit at ND. Great prospect. I'd still love to secure a big/tall WR like Thornton or Colzie though. Thomas seems like a small X or big slot. Not very fast. IIRC, 40 time was in the 4.6s?
IMO He's extremely similiar to Javon McKinley.

I would like to see ND add 1-2 more WR in this class and I think Thomas is our best bet right now (in order in my opinion: Thomas-Colzie-Thornton).

Last I read is that he wants to play baseball I wonder if ND is pitching the idea he can also play baseball.

I think it’s Jayden Thomas, TMA (could be DB or WR, he wants WR and the staff said they’d let him), and then recruit Thornton and Colzie until signing day as BPA.

I think we definitely are, but he really wants to play baseball in college and would love to hear from our baseball coach and get the green light to do so. The football coaches have said they are cool with it, but he has yet to talk to our baseball coaches.

Story in SBT today confirms this is still true. "I haven't seen or heard from the Notre Dame baseball program about him" said Thomas' baseball coach at Pace Acadamy.

Ugh. Why are we still considered in the lead for him? Appears to be two from this story. "The most important thing is going to be academics" he says. And his baseball stock has been hurt by a COVID shortened jr season. Since football is his "main sport" he doesn't play summer baseball so there isn't much to evaluate beyond his Soph year.

He sounds pretty adamant that he won't commit without his family visiting the campus. He visited for the a Nov. game last year

All signs point to ND

Loy and Sinclair have the only crystal balls on 247 on 8/1 and 8/19 respectively.

Singer and our boy EJ Holland put in Rivals futurecasts for ND on 8/10 and 9/24.

Only 4, but all ND, and recent. Plus all the buzz buzz tea leaf stuff has been positive for awhile.

Expect more writers to pick up the scent and pick ND this week.

Any reason to believe Colzie's decision impacts Thomas's?

curious timing right after Colzie's commitment. Our coaches may be guiding the timing here to present the image that we are on a roll.

Didn't we think that after Spindler and Kollie?

Thomas and Colzie have talked quite a bit. The impact is positive for sure.

This time Friday, he'll be Irish.

This has to rank up there as an all-time WR class for ND if so, no?

I was thinking about this earlier, I can’t think of one better off the top of my head if we get Thomas

I like ND's chances with Thomas.

Is Thomas more of a physical receiver than Colzie and Colzie brings the speed/athleticism?

Digging deeper I like that ND is recruiting more of Georgia.

Everyone is recruiting Georgia harder it seems. Out of the top 20 players ranked in Georgia in this class, Georgia may only get 7. Last year they only signed 2 out of the top 20. Granted it didn't really matter because they had the top recruiting class in 20 . . .

This year, their top 4 players are all from GA this year, and they're highly favored to get 2 additional kids from GA who are both 5 star. I think it simply comes down to them going national more than ignoring GA, or others stealing. The big time programs like Bama, OSU, Clemson, and other have always hit GA hard, as has the rest of the SEC and ACC. More than anything, they've become a national brand IMO and simply have more options now than ever.

I'm a huge fan of recruiting Georgia because 1.) there seems to be a lot of kids that fit our program around the Atlanta area and 2.) the kids we recruit in California/Florida don't work out most of the time.

UGA has pulled an OSU and moved to a national recruiting strategy. So there are some very good players in their back yard who get passed over or slow played by the local favorite.

There's just too much attention and competition in Florida.

Yup. They can a lot pickier than they used to be.

GT should really try to step it up in GA IMO, and could benefit a lot. Since they've changed schemes and coaches, could be a more attractive destination. Cool campus downtown ATL, night games, etc.
