Is that Joseph's area for recruiting? His HS size would tell me that they see him as a Rover/LB.

I don't see anything special on tape and his offers reflect that imo.

Take a look at JOK's offer list coming out of high school. Very similar, Moore's list probably slightly better. And JOK is about to become a first round or at worse day 2 NFL draft pick. The Rover position is very unique and you can get these lower ranked tweener kids, part of the reason they are lower ranked is due to them not having a defined position. And then these kids become these stud hybrid players in college. Another example is Isiah Simmons. These tweener Safety and linebacker hybrid kids.

I understand that. But to me JOK's speed on tape was better.

great looking player and plays fast. I was thinking he would play safety but if he gained weight he could be another JOK at rover. looks like a great talent I really hope ND lands him.

Good looking prospect. Will easily grow into a Rover, maybe even a Buck. Bilal played at 6'2 227, could Moore get to that?

That's where you have to expect him to end up after starting at Rover.

I guess I don't understand the premise behind starting a player at a position when it's a foregone conclusion that he is going to move. If DJ Brown is a safety, why is he staying at corner for a year, only for him to move to safety, which was foreseeable since he was a recruit? Wouldn't just starting off at safety to begin with be much better for his training and development? The same is true for a number of players, which I think would include Caleb Henderson from this year as well.

I think safety to linebacker and corner to safety are different than, say, Rover to Buck, OT to OG, or SDE to DT.

I think some of it is the unknown. You don’t really know what you have until the prospect gets on campus and go through the process. How do their bodies progress? What kind of speed do they have? How does it translate to the field? You start D.J. Brown at CB to see if he can play it. If his speed and quickness held up then you’d play him at the premium position.

Next is putting these guys in a position to compete right away. While we/they may think Moore is going to end up at Buck, he’ll more than likely not be able to compete as a freshman at that position. Why not give him a chance to compete in practice and let him make the move as his body suggests. Do you really want to forgo Drue Tranquill’s 17’ season because we moved him straight from S to ILB? That makes little sense to me.

As of today, we’ve been given no indication that moving from Rover to Buck is a difficult process. In fact, it’s been quite the opposite. Seamless transitions for the guys that have done it.

Maybe swap out Vandy for Syracuse and you’d literally have the 6 best academic institutions in FBS football. Sheesh that’s a big time academic list. (Cal, Michigan, and UVA are also up there but state schools have the opportunity to throw in more pottery classes).

Wiltfong says Stanford.

Don't know what he knows but Tree can't possibly have the same need/connections to mess with ND here. Unless they are recruiting him as a WR / ATH... IF that's what he even wants.

Syracuse, BC and Stanford. Obviously geography not an issue. Obviously academics are.

Three schools ND has beaten like a drum in the last couple years...gotta be in our favor I would think. Plus Northwestern and Duke so we've beaten all five in either 2018 or 2019.

ND may have messed around and found another one of those...

If a kid wants to go play in front of 25 people, then more power to him. At least we know that they practice social distancing at Stanford football games.

Notre Dame on your degree is prestigious. But, having Stanford on your degree is more prestigious to the general public. Stanford is the Ivy league of the West.

If ND wants him then they need to put the full court press on no reason we shouldn’t land this kid especially with us having Hamilton

How many times have we said something similar. But, the kid chooses Stanford, because of the name and that it's in California and not Indiana.

Still Stanford name on a degree holds major weight. Plus these kids all grew up when Stanford was good and through the Andrew Luck years.

I don't think Stanford has as much cache in Georgia as you think it does. Maybe Northern Cali, but Georgia? I dunno man. Not denying the value in its degree, but that's not new and we weren't losing kids to Stanford before Luck showed up on campus.

I agree with all of this. JMO but I would think the full package of elite degree AND one of the strongest fan bases in college football compared with an elite degree with no fan base...even at home...would put ND on top. Add in the fact that it appears Stanford has drifted back to mediocrity compared to ND the past 3 years when these guys were all playing high school football and starting their recruitment should mean Stanford is a tier below ND.

Stanford has consistently ranked 1st or 2nd in sending graduates to Silicon Valley. That is obviously much more significant in the last 10 to 15 years. I don't know the kid nor what he wants to do in his life, but I suspect he has thoroughly thought this over and I am not going to question him. I wish more kids did it this way.
