Very, very little. Can you honestly say you feel confident in him leading ND vs Texas A&M week 1 based off the handful of throws he has made as a backup QB in the waning minutes of the blowout games when he just handed off the ball to the backup RBs?
Again Texas A&M isn’t week one next year.

But yet here you are complaining about QB’s not playing more in garbage time.

A&M looks like week 2 or 3 next year.

Adam Breneman still showing ND some love, but not as much as ND. Typical.

Seriously tho, can’t believe I’ve seen Riley on multiple Heisman lists after the first few weeks of the year. He was a drive away from being pulled for Steve against Miami OH.

If he plays a turnover free final 4 games and is responsible for 16 touchdowns (don't think that is too insane between his rushing and passing), that would put him at 35 touchdowns and 4 turnovers. Where he's going to meet headwinds is there are zero true primetime games against good opponents. If he does that, I'd bet he'd receive a decent amount of votes, but not enough to make it to New York.

I think it comes down to the fact that no matter the situation, someone will ALWAYS find something to complain about.
Bingo.

And I have "Steve Angeli as QB1" filed at the top of the "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it list".

Reed looked terrible against both Bowling Green and Arkansas. He was barely over 50% completion rate in those two games and Arkansas held him in check on the ground (1.3 yards per carry). LSU made him look like an all world QB while he only attempted two passes in that half against them. That's not sustainable. I'm not worried about Reed...
To be fair, Brian Kelly defenses have rarely had an answer for dual threat QBs like Reed. That's probably why he looked so good against the Tigers

Two things:

1. He was a starter at JUCO in '21 and he's played 5+ Games in '22, '23 & '24. He shouldn't get another year (Also played in Covid '20)

2. Vandy took a former JUCO and NMSU graduate. Imagine ND pulling off such wicked badassery.

So uh, anyone know a good lawyer?

I'd try it for sure. Lots of money in it for him. But like I said, he was a 5 year starter even if 1 year was the Covid '20 season.

He won the JUCO D1 Natty in '21. Last Chance U picked the wrong school.

In advance of today’s game, I hope he goes out and destroys another shitty defense. I’ve really been enjoying the improvements in the results but... How much of that is improvement in his game or the opponent?

For comparison, DFEI rankings for opponents on the 2022 and 2023 schedules compared to this year.

2022 DFEI opponent rankings:
- 10th, 12th, 20th, 39th, 45th, 59th, 69th, 88th, 101st, 102nd, 104th, 119th,

2023:
- 2nd, 3rd, 17th, 20th, 27th, 36th, 68th, 78th, 80th, 115th, 124th, (Tennessee State not included)

2024:
- 17th, 46th, 47th, 57th, 61st, 77th, 89th, 117th
Yet to play:
- 36th, 60th, 63rd, 70th

I was in attendance on Saturday night. I’m not sure if PFF takes into account throwing the ball 3 feet over receiver heads, throwing to covered receivers or not leading receivers. Dink and dunk all night with a nice ball to Evans for TD.

They do take everything into account. And they do like him. Sounds like you're the one who just doesn't like "the eye test".

His QBR on the season is now sitting at 78.8 14th in the entire country.
That is very, very impressive.

He is encroaching on Ian Book 2020 territory where Ian ended the season with a 84 QBR, which I think most of us would agree was the best overall QB play a ND player had this past decade.

Props to the kid, and happy to have egg on my face because I was certainly one of those calling for his benching after the embarrassment that was the NIU performance.

The only reason his number is even close to being good is his rushing stats. His throwing ability is blah.

Totally agree, but this is college football where these guys are far from the finished aritcle at times.
Having the ability to run the ball, especially into the cold weather months, is important.

Personally, that is why I like QBR because it factors running ability higher into thier formula.

His throwing ability has improved. Does he still miss some throws that DI college QBs should make, sure. Are there times his DI receivers don't do him any favors? Absolutely.

But I'm not sure why fans want to completely discount his running stats. It's not like it's 3 rushes for 20 yards to extend plays on 3rd down and that's it. The dude will end the season with the most rushing touchdowns as a QB in ND history.

I was in attendance too. I see you left out the terrible drops by Love and Faison to fit your narrative. Nice.
