He’s really seen as a day one QB?? He never once struck me as that when Ive watched Duke play over the years
I was dubious too. Read multiple scouting reports that said similar things about his skills and abilities. Even if this past season was underwhelming, the tools are there and there’s room for growth.

He’s an exciting prospect with RD 1 potential. ND fans should be excited.

I don't think we'll need to worry about RL remembering to tuck the football on a 40 yard scramble against Clemson

I'm kinda hoping we lose him.
1. I want to see if we can develop a QB
2. It might, although I doubt it, wake up an echo an two and we can see how a new AD and President respond. If they respond like the last two (and the two before that), we're in for a long, disappointing ride.

Not taking a transfer qb who can start would be negligent

Also I don't think I get the Josh Allen comp at all. He's nowhere near the passer Allen is. I think he's a bit more like Tebow with more accuracy and slightly worse running power.

Might be a little lazy because of the Duke connection, but he reminds me of a slightly more athletic Daniel Jones

I think Andrew luck is an interesting comp. Both are 6’4 and possess strong frames both excel at throwing on the run and making tight window throws. Both are dual threat. Both are considered highly intelligent and good decision-makers. Both have strong leadership ability. Luck exhibited a more traditional pro style compared to Leonard and his reliance on more of a spread, I think physically, and mentally they seem similar. Luck was well known for his deep accuracy, and Leonard has not really demonstrated that level, but if he developed, I’d think this would be an interesting comparison. Luck to me would be his ceiling. His 2022 highlights are impressive.

Finally watched some RL highlights. Yes, he’s a true dual threat QB with his running abilities. But, what stood out to me was his quick release!! He can really pull the trigger.

I really do love it here.

Catching up from how we feel in this thread, we could be getting anything from Josh Allen, Tim Tebow (who did win a natty), 1st - 3rd round prospect, or not much/we should just stick with Angeli/Minchey/someone else.

Excited to see it all shake out.

Honestly accuracy wise I see a lot of Drew Brees in him but physical toughness I can see the Big Ben. Mobility everyone should agree he is Vick. Arm Strength he is Marino and mental toughness he clearly resembles Montana. He definitely is like Brady is decision making and one could argue in Character and overall likeability he is Peyton Manning

I wouldnt put it past ND to make RL wait until after the bowl game to announce. Would be major blue balls.

Edit: looks like someone posted Loy is thinking a Monday announcement

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but its mine...time kills deals, I feel more confident he ends up elsewhere than ND....and I don't care who he follows, all that is easily reversed. If he was no contact all Irish two weeks ago, something negative behind the scenes has happened. He knows he would help himself in the WR room, if he didn't drag this out...yet here we are.
