The fact that he tore a labrum so couldn't do QB runs actually makes sense on why the game plan changed dramatically after the first drive, but what doesn't make sense is why they didn't pull him for Angeli if he was hurt.
Agreed, I think you skip over, or very least have a short leash on Angeli and go to Minchy or Carr at the first sign of disaster, and live with whatever they produce the rest of the season. If Angeli is that much better than them, you'd assumed he would of won the job in the off season.Does anyone remember what happened to Drew Bledsoe in 2001?
CJ your legendary career starts Saturday
This is my thought tooThe fact that he tore a labrum so couldn't do QB runs actually makes sense on why the game plan changed dramatically after the first drive, but what doesn't make sense is why they didn't pull him for Angeli if he was hurt.
Have to wonder how much Riley hid the pain, trying to be a gamer / not lose his starting spot.
Guy hasn’t stopped trying to hide it, even now that everyone knows.
He’s probably been petitioning since Sunday morning that he can play the rest of the way if they just hook him up with the cortisone shot before kickoff. And I bet it’s really hard on MFMF, because I bet he responds to the combination of can-do and play-through-it attitude
Also... Angeli can kinda run? He did against Oregon State. The other thing the talking heads keep bringing up there's no way they'll make a change because the whole offense is designed around a running QB. Okay, sure. But what happens if the very scenerio we are seeing plays out and he gets hurt? We all knew he would be hurt at some point this season, whether it be a game or multiple games. There isn't an offense the other 3 can run? Are you kidding me?
No. Freeman wants like all coaches want to limit turnovers and the criticism and inference that it has played a part in the poor play is frankly stupid. If Leonard heeded Freeman’s advice, we would have won the game.I think they damaged his confidence with the "don't make a mistake mentality." I believe that mentality comes from Freeman and is at least partially responsible for our QB issues the past 3 years.
I'm more concerned about angeli avoiding sacks than anything elseAlso... Angeli can kinda run? He did against Oregon State.
How dare you use St. Timothy's name with such negligence!?No. Freeman wants like all coaches want to limit turnovers and the criticism and inference that it has played a part in the poor play is frankly stupid. If Leonard heeded Freeman’s advice, we would have won the game.
Leonard is a JV Tebow. He has flashes of ability that all average QBs have that fools people into thinking that there might be more. There isn’t.
Our QB issues stem primarily from either lack of offensive identity or an offensive style that is incompatible with our personnel.
I’d love to see him get the chance to avoid said sacks.I'm more concerned about angeli avoiding sacks than anything else
The amount they paid him also doesn’t match with what Freeman said before the game about not taking “risks”. You can see why he didn’t consider that Collins pass when freeman has said that crap.I have no idea, but the speculation is he cost $1-2 million to get here. I'm sure whomever spent that money doesn't want to see it on the bench.
That said, you wouldn't think they'd want to see ND lose either.
Not sure what's worse here. The fact this was not mentioned during yesterday's press conference or that Freeman believes a banged up RL is better than any of our backups.
I'm okay with doubling the sacks if that means doubling our passing yards.I'm more concerned about angeli avoiding sacks than anything else
And actually having a passing touchdown…I'm okay with doubling the sacks if that means doubling our passing yards.
I'm okay with doubling the sacks if that means doubling our passing yards.
I was hoping that was implied, ha.And actually having a passing touchdown…
Exactly. That’s the point O’Malley was trying to make in that if he was “banged up” and needs to be tended to, what’s wrong w/ going w/ Angeli for a few series until medical clears him to run? We don’t think twice when another position player has to sit for a few plays or series after getting banged up so why shouldn’t it be the case here when ND has the deepest QB room in recent memory? The fact that he tore a labrum so couldn't do QB runs actually makes sense on why the game plan changed dramatically after the first drive, but what doesn't make sense is why they didn't pull him for Angeli if he was hurt.
I’d say he’s mobile and as long as Denbrock picked the right time to run draw or RPO, it could catch the D off guard. He’s not going to have anywhere near the escapability that RL has. If they corral him in the pocket, he’s going down.Also... Angeli can kinda run? He did against Oregon State.
How is this defending him? Leonard has been exposed and is hurt. All ND opponents have to do is load the box to defend the run and dare him to throw.Freeman always does this, he only is going to defend his players at press conferences. He’s lied many times to protect his players.
Oh shit it’s like deep state covert operation now.I think MF wanted to keep it quiet but people who aren’t happy with RL leaked this
