I fully believe the Irish will get what they need in the portal. May not be every top player on their list, but they will close the deal with the ones who want to be there. Still a week and a half before the portal closes so plenty of time to get things done.

This is my thinking as well. Freeman won't let ND completely strike out in the Portal. He wants to win, like every other coach. He knows what the team needs.... him and Martin and the staff really need to push here.

Burham and KK were not money related issues. Yes, Indiana is likely paying Burnham more because they had much more "cap" space to do so, but it's been stated more than enough through several outlets that him leaving had to do with playing time and usage. KK, same shit.

Well, we've all know probably heard about the donations they are receiving. But more importantly, and it's a valid point that is being brought up, they are losing like 16 starters... ND is losing not even half that amount. ND has also paid out a lot in roster retention. I'm not sure how much ND is working with outside of the Rev Share cap either.

I think your your last three paragraphs are all accurate. First of all, ND has never been trying to go into the portal for a "big splash" ... Sam Hartman and Riley Leonard would be the closest things and those guys were bargains relative to current figures. Second, everything has gotten concentrated into one frenetic portal. So if you miss here, there is no Spring portal to figure your shit out, which is why everyone is acting crazy.

When your process at Texas Tech is "this one eccentric dude will personally cut the check for whoever you tell him you need" that is worlds easier than need to build consensus between multiple stakeholders regardless of who those guys are. Sorsby getting paid $5M is a TOTAL JOKE but it's just one dude's money so who's to argue?

The lesson learned from ND is probably some version of "you need contracts agree to in principle before the portal opens up, then you need the person to visit + sign immediately and if they don't you need to have Option B and Option C lined up." With that being said, I bet you see legislation passed before 2028 at the latest and we never have to go through this shit again.

Do they have their more fair to middling DTs lined up if top targets don't materialize. The TP moves fast and esp. DTs, and pretty far down the list, get locked up quickly.

Because they have 16 graduating starters and are only returning 6 projected starters. Therefore, the overwhelming majority of their Rev Share + NIL money is being freed up. By comparison, ND is returning 15 starters (16 if Onye gets a waiver) and a slew of guys like Otting, Absher, Ausberry, Sneed and Talich, that they had to pay good money so that they would be willing to stay and play in rotation.

This isn't a difficult concept. It's no different than professional free agency. If team A has $100 million coming off their "cap" because of expiring contracts, you now have that money to spend on the free agency market. If team B has $20 million coming off their "cap" because their contracts aren't, expiring, they're going to have substantially less money to spend than team A does.

Crazy how quiet it's been from the beat. Doesn't seem anyone has and idea what's going on or any update to share, not even confirmations of players coming and going. Just weird with so many alleged visitors yesterday and today.

Some how they know the amount of money each school is offering players while they are on NDs campus. "Agents" must be leaking $$$ info out

None of the sites have anything about any visitors. Makes me think someone from ND has told them to not report on anything related to the portal considering how terrible it has gone for them thus far.
