Dawson is a good piece, but wouldn’t surprise me if Sevillano or Mukam end up getting more minutes there.

Me personally, it's gotta be the poor sentence structure and grammar.

"We need DT's I don't know why we aren't landing them now that we are winning big games this is puzzling how come?"

I will have a stroke if I see another one of those.
Allow me to expedite that process for you.

I agree about the DTs and it seems like we don't have any traction we're in the natty with less talent and I thought this would result in more guys wanting to come here something seems fishy i hope the administration and donors are willing to pay to get the top talent freeman needs to win it all and build a dynasty i'm eating some soup and listening to my dogs eat their food and it's an annoying chomping cadence that makes me grind my teeth i should book an appt with my dentist

Looking at this now, every year there are ~20 DTs drafted. Of those, about 5-7 are from lesser tier schools. How flexible are our admissions? How many of these are grad transfer eligible? I don’t know.

But your path to getting plug and play guys is to find a way to overpay for some of them. Getting a couple guys that will get drafted rounds 5-7. If you’re waiting until someone hits the portal, it’s probably too late.

Tbh I’m much more bummed about not being seriously in the running for WRs like Singleton, Concepcion, Branch, etc. Like we aren’t even be considered by these guys, probably because our passing game has so much uncertainty.

I love the run we’re on right now, but it’s really hard to do without WRs like those guys. And agree, it’s paradoxical - I don’t see how we fix it and get transfers like that until we start producing at WR.

Focusing on a few solid potential rotational DTs for the taking, these two (Tupu Alualu and Blake Boenisch) appear to still be in the TP but w/ no decision as of yet (and both may be working on becoming official GTs which is better for ND). Slightly smaller for a DT (but so is Hinish) is Tupu Alualu; but he was productive at SDSU with 55 tackles and 8.5 sacks over the last 2 years in the MW conference. Blake Boenisch has size and experience for sure, and was supposedly already on ND's radar if not expected to join the ND D Line. (Both do NOT appear in the ND student directory as of now).

I’m not worried about WR. Fields is gonna be a stud, Pauling will be a nice rotation piece. Seeing guys like Faison and Greathouse stepping up gives me promise. I think Williams and Gilbert are gonna be good too

Don’t get me wrong I think Jared Lawson is one of the top DT’s but some guys that woulda been nice to add:
David Gusta
James Thompson Jr
Travis Shaw
Parker Peterson
The Rice kid forgot his name

Who on this list do you deem "difference maker" worthy?

Gusta? 21 total tackles and 1 sack. Nice numbers? I guess. But those numbers aren't even up to Hinish's level.
Thompson? The guy didn't play a snap in 2024.
Travis Shaw was a backup at UNC. 12 tackles on the year.
Petersen was crapped on as "not being worthy" of a roster spot somewhere in this thread. Have no idea if that was you and don't care to look.
De'Braylon Carroll? Dude had 5 total tackles last year.

Tell me where the difference makers are. You continue to post nonsense in this thread about how poorly ND is doing on the DL because they aren't bringing in difference makers at the position, yet you fail to identify any transfer who 1) is a difference maker, and 2) ND missed out on.

If you're going to clog the board, come heavy with facts/stats/competence to back it up. Otherwise find another hobby. Your shtick is old and tired.

I blame myself for throwing out Travis Shaw first since he had been uncommitted but now I feel like I’m taking crazy pills that certain posters are consistently calling a career backup for a bad defense this difference maker we whiffed on
It's his talent level, this year is the first year he felt like himseld since an old injury a couple years back. He definitely flashed at points this year and looked good once he got his endurance back up. to par.

The numbers usually don't tell the story in effectiveness with the DT position. A Ndamakong Suh or Aaron Donald type #s producer is very very rare.
