Driskell and Roberts both saying no way we are taking a QB or even talking to guys. So someone’s way off here. Either they have no clue or the other guy is way off.

It’s as simple as “we aren’t looking” but if a good one comes “we couldn’t say no”. Either way it makes the coaches look good. If they’re “not looking” it simply means they can’t get anyone great to come.

Technically NOBODY is leaving the program yet… and with the NCAA deciding eligibility limits aren’t really a thing anymore any time someone hires a lawyer, we might get the entire same roster back next year, plus some transfers.

This would be a HUGE win for ND if no one leaves, but if ND loses anyone I think it will be younger guys that are buried on the depth chart.

My biggest need for ND is the DL- Cross and Mills are a tandem, if Hinish can be consistent like his brother that will help.

After the season is done and more kids enter the portal I would wait for a bigger name at WR- Fields and Pauling are a nice addition and get 1 more. Williams and Gilbert need to be ready for next season; Williams was college ready by his recruit rankings and Gilbert's film was impressive. Burress made a name for him during his senior season and looks to be college ready.

For QB- Klubnik or bust- Ewers and Milroe are spotty and if they take no one, who ever starts from our current roster will have a great offense to work with.

Players on teams still participating in bowl season (CFP or otherwise) have until 5 days after the end of their season to enter the portal.

So we’ll know about McCord and Klubnik by midnight. Milroe by 1/5 and Ewers TBD. Obviously our guys would be 5 days after we hoist a Natty on 1/20.

I expect some younger kids on our team to leave or some of our high profile kids to be tampered with. It's the new era of college football. Mitchell went from the #1 WR at FIU in 2023 to an addition at ND in 2024. Fields was the #1 WR at Virginia this past season , while we have young guys in the waiting at WR for next season; Williams/Gilbert need to see the field in 2025 and can Fields replicate what he did at Virginia next year at ND?

At QB I am going to stick with Klubnik or bust in the transfer portal. There is too much of he said/she said- yes we are after a QB, no we are not after a QB. I am going to trust this staff especially if they think our QB is already on the roster for 2025.

Agreed. Tenn is also just showing the dangers of building your roster on money in general if the portal plays out how their fans think it will, IMO. One of their DBs, Boo Carter, who was a freshman starter at nickel but nothing special is demanding over $1MM and to play both ways or he’ll walk.

This is why there should be a salary cap or very least a luxury tax. I can't imagine colleges wanting players to set the market every year.

Yup. With multi-year contracts, the portal will still be a thing but could evolve into a soccer style transfer market where school/collective get compensated. Would be amazing for the smaller schools.

Cap doesn't cause cheating, it will cause parody while certainly regulating a market.

Tax will eliminate cheating and ruin parody, but can regulate a market because there's a punishment attached to it for buying the top earners.
