I'm guessing some of these things have been in the works for weeks if not months through back channels.

0% chance a year at Auburn will academically get you past Nd admissions. You’d be better off spending a year staring into a ditch

Prister flat out said in his article this week that when you see the names transferring into ND for 2025 you won't be so concerned about the recruiting class or roster holes. That statement along with Brice's hint at multiple SEC guys coming in?

Supposedly there Is now more leeway on undergrad transfers but I’d have to believe the potential candidates still have to be good students, of course. I also heard that players from the ACC and B1G will be targeted more frequently than SEC players for obvious academic reasons. I guess we’ll all see soon enough ☘️

The II guys said there will be but they weren't sure on the number of transfers that would have multiple years left. The multi year guys will be more likely to come from the Big 10 and ACC. They gave their predictions on the number of total transfers into ND:

Prister: 10 (originally said 12)
O'Malley: 10
Sampson: 6 (thinks they'll value quality over quantity)

My best guess (10): 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 DE, 2 DT, 1 CB or NB, 1 S, 1 K

6 is insanely low. No way.

So they already have to know a handful of guys who are coming or in talks. If someone like Ausberry couldn’t get in after this Freshman year how is any other underclassmen gonna get in in the SEC?

They have been hinting at that too, that ND is softening on second and third years transferring in. Prister also estimated that ND would be taking a DOZEN TRANSFERS.
This one never made sense to me in light of the basketball team being able to do it...

Only positions where we don’t take a transfer for sure will be RB and OL. I think we take the following.
QB- 1 for depth purposes could have two guys leave
TE- need at least one
Kicker- need 1
WR- 2 for sure possibly 3, 3rd being a guy who can return punts too I don’t wanna see a walk on returning punts
DE- 1
DT- 2
Corner- 1
Safety- 1

I'm not sure how it could be just 6?

WR - 1 to 2 (one of them better be a true number 1)
DT - 2 (We HAVE to have 2 quality guys here)
Nickel - 1 (our nickel needs continue)
Vyper - 1 (Maybe Traore and Botello are ahead of schedule in recovery but doubt it)

That leaves you without a safety, a true freshmen kicker and a pretty thin TE room.

Thought I had heard that they were going to start looking at kids with more than one year left also. If so, kudos to CMF for getting everyone on board with the new way college football works.

Does the projected number of incoming transfers change based on the number of outgoing transfers? I know a few weeks ago, everyone was convinced Sneed was leaving. Since then, he seems to have found a role on the defense and has played OK. Is the prevailing thought that he is still going? Any inclination on others that may be leaving?

Perhaps, if the outgoing transfer from ND was a contributor like Sneed.

However, if say, one of the younger OL who has gotten beaten by a classmate/younger player transfers out (and is not playing), I doubt ND would then seek to replace them in the portal.

This seems bare minimum at least 7/8 + specialists*

QB- (the coaches know by now I would think) spring depth add if needed?
RB - No
WR - 1 stud, 2 I'd assume
TE - Possibly 1
OL - No
NT - 1 massive man
DT / Big DE flex - 1
Pass Rusher - 1
Nickel/CB - 1
Safety - 1

Specialists as needed.

Where do people get this notion that football is being held to some different standard on this? If you’re going to argue certain people at ND don’t want the football team to do well, then take off your tinfoil hat and touch grass.

Frankly it seems more like a coaching decision by Freeman and Bowden.
