ND should take a look at DE Mike Green from Marshall as a transfer for next season. 15 sacks thus far.

I really don't think we need a transfer QB. Regardless if CJ is in bad shape which I pray he isn't, I think Angeli is good enough to win games

Angelli is a good dude and a fine qb to win a game or two for ND in a pinch

he's not "good enough to win games" on any championship level.

Say what you want about RL, dude has tools. Angelli is a lesser Jack Coan with a marginally better 40 speed. Don't fool yourself because Minchey ain't ready either.

Maybe CJ is it? I sincerely hope so, but the roster next year is potentially full of BALLERS. The schedule is harder too... We need a dude who can sling it in 2025 and I'm happy we may have a staff that's trying to do everything they can to win

Just win baby.

Minchey will be a junior. If he isn't ready then he might not ever be.
6'2 and will probably be close to 220 lbs next year. Seems like a perfect fit for the Denbrook offense.
Count me in this group that wants Minchey to be given a real shot also. Love his quick release which I feel is an underrated attribute of any qb. I'm going to trust Denbrock and Freeman with qbs though. The portal has almost made it too tempting to not get a new qb yearly with the experience and talent available. Will be interesting.

I love the idea of Minchey. Big strong kid, seems to have the tools. I tend to think he has higher upside than Angeli - who seems fine but isn't winning us a natty. And some in his position would've bailed last spring, but he didn't. Respect.

I'm starting to worry though, that Minchey's been here almost two full years and we have barely seen him on the field. If the coaches don't think he's even ready for blow-out duty now, what are the odds they hand him the keys in the spring?

That said, unless Carr's actually hurt and/or they really don't trust Minchey, I'd vote against the portal. We now have three quality backup QBs in the room, and there don't look to be many Hartman/Leonard-level slam dunks out there for us. Maybe let the young guys cook.

I can see the staff thinking Carr isn’t ready yet they roll with a 1 year transfer again, Carr next year then you got the freshman as the 3rd string

If you view yourself as a contender (which we should) and QB is the one area holding you back, you at least take a long look at the transfer market. Maybe you decide after all that to roll with what you’ve got, but you at least have to see what’s out there. I’m not that convinced we’re as set with Minchey as some of the rest of you.

100% no thanks on a QB transfer. ND has depth and regardless of Carr's injury Angeli & Minchey should be given a chance before either of them is written off.

I agree with rtrn2glory that Angeli is good enough to win games- he is a program guy and not a 1 year rental.

I am OK with ND getting 1 RB in the 25 class, but they need to go after guys in the 26 class.

J. Love deserves a raise any NIL $ we'd give to a 2nd RB give to him, our depth for RB will be fine for next season.

What exactly have you seen in Angeli in his reps this year and in the bowl game that make you think he’s a championship caliber QB?

Minchey we literally have no idea.

You have to do your due diligence in the transfer market to at least see if you can upgrade what you’ve got.

Need a transfer QB until all the Kelly/Rees guys are gone. When it’s Carr, Hebert, Grubbs enrolled, then we can stop.

can’t fix the damage Rees did overnight. I thank God everyday that douche is gone

I was very critical of Rees as well. But he did a great job in the evaluation process of Carr, Minchey, and Angeli.

I’m not a fan of bringing in a transfer QB, unless both Angeli and Minchey leave. I’d rather use the money on the DL.

If Freeman puts Angeli in vs NIU in the 4th quarter we win. The little PT that Angeli has gotten I have confidence that he can lead ND to wins, he's been in the program, and NIL 1 year rental guys doesn't guarantee anything. Leonard will need to improve his passing game in this years playoffs, especially if teams stop our running game.

Not all transfers pan out, you can upgrade in any position, and I don't think ND needs an upgrade at the QB position.

100% this, Angeli has stayed this long and if 1 of the 2 leave I believe Minchey does.

Develop what you have in house.

Minchey's in year 3 and we know nothing about him. Beat never writes about him, he's not praised by coaches for work ethic during the mundane periods of covering the program. Not a great sign in year 3, IMO. I doubt he's an answer. Angelli would be a great 7v7 QB. Couldn't see a pass rush if his life depended on it though.

I guess we can agree to disagree. Angeli may have helped us win the NIU game, but I suspect with him starting the entire season we’re probably at least sitting with a pair of losses at this point. He doesn’t beat aTm, that’s for sure.

There’s literally no harm in looking at the portal. I also don’t buy that if you have the chance to upgrade ANY position via the portal that you wouldn’t do it. How’s that working for Dabo?

Also, all this conjecture about spending “the” money on DL instead of a QB—you act like you know how much there is to spend…if we wanted portal DL (plural) and QB, we could have them.

We don't know what kind of record Steve would've produced.
Riley has made A LOT of plays with his legs, but maybe Steve with a little more experience makes those plays with his mind?

I mean, I guess. I feel like Riley’s running ability has really helped bring along a green and inexperienced OL. I’ve been critical of RL’s passing acumen, but his ability to aid in the run game and keep defenses somewhat balanced has been crucial. If you stick Angeli back there—like we’ve seen—the defense would just pin their ears back and tee off.

Yes, agree to disagree. Does he beat A&M? I take that statement that he would've been our starter and if that's the case why go after Leonard?? If Angeli was younger I'd have more doubt about him starting, but how do we know that Angeli doesn't have that toughness that Ian Book had??

A pair of losses, including a loss to A&M?? I disagree.

If we get another transfer QB you can almost bet our QB recruiting will go down from our current spot.

And it shows the we need a new QB coach.
Because he can’t develop anyone either.

A top portal QB is ~$2M. You don’t think that money could be used elsewhere, like the DL?

I’m saying we don’t know how much we have to spend. If Marcus went to the collective and said I need $2mil for a QB and $2mil for a DT it would get done.

So what are our options at this point at wide receiver? Parnham, is Mizell still an option, Hall or Vines Bright still under consideration?

We need 2 more right?

Id rather put 4 million in two DTs than that split. Or 2 on a DT and 2 on a guy like Ayomanor.

One of the 3 QBs on the roster needs to be ready next year.

Agreed, bad look for ND and the recruiting for the QB position if they keep getting QB transfers.

I can't wait to see what Leonard can do next season at ND, especially if his passing game gets better....oh wait he's only here a year.

Develop what ND has in house.
