That’s putting it lightly. He’s been fucking terrible.
So giving him a giant raise so he never leaves was maybe a good move? Huh. Funny how the wind shifts.

You've got Thurman in with a verbal and they're probably looking at trying to get one more flipped in before December for this cycle. They have half a dozen offers out to RB in the 2026 at least. The room is already pretty full and pretty young. Could potentially be scaring some people away knowing their carries could be limited.

They just flipped a QB and IOL in stealth like fashion. I'll wait and see where RB lands come December before we start attaching lightning rods to Deland's name too.

He recruited like a guy who didn't expect to still be at Notre Dame.
If that's the case then that's shameful. Essentially screwing over the program for one cycle at RB. Freeman would deserve some blame, too. He could've said that Thurman and Anderson aren't good enough.

They recruited and accepted a commitment from a guy that isn’t good enough to be a starter for his high school team. There’s no excuse for that; I don’t care who’s already on the roster.

We’ve seen that before we they take a kid early thinking that they will hit on their evaluation. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. But they have the sense to move on from the commitment if they feel that they missed early on their eval.

The benefit to securing the commitments of Aneyas Williams and Kedron Youngesrly in the process was that it would give DMC so much extra time to focus on the 2025 class. He did quite the opposite.

For a moment in time, he had his 2025 group locked up. One would think that would allow him to focus on the 2026 group, but I guess not.

You have to take into account count that Anderson was coming off an injury and worked out in person for the ND staff after the injury. They must have seen he had notable abilities but his progress senior year didn’t translate to production on the field. Their projection wasn’t accurate so they mutually agreed to part ways. Even the best recruiters/evaluators make, in hindsight, questionable decisions. The positive part is there is still time for them to secure an optional RB to pair with Thurman. Let’s see how it plays out.

I am to the point that our recruiting is just going to be what it is. We have been told that it was going to be night and day difference between Freeman and Kelly and that’s not true although they have been just a little better than most of Kelly’s classes.

Last year we had 3 top 50 according to 247 and 5 in the top 100.

We might get 2 this year in the top 100.

I think we all just need to realize that we will be a fringe top ten recruiting class that’ll keep us in the 8-15 top every year.

If the cool, young, players coach can’t get game changer to come to ND no one can.

I think that’s quite premature to resort to that line of thinking. Freeman went 9-4, 10-3 in his first two season. Good but not great. A lot of the ceiling for ND recruiting is dependant on the future. Continuous playoff appearances will result in incrementally better recruiting. It is the results of any winning program.

Also, ND is still after top 100 guys and may end up with a few of them.

Hearing Sedrick Irvin's name mentioned several times during the Stanford game reminded me that we have been quite willing to move on from early-offered RBs when the evaluation doesn't pan out. I respect that.
Also at this point in his recruiting cycle, Audric Estime was a Michigan State Spartan. I assume we processed Anderson to go get another RB, and there's still two months to do that. Stay on target.

I feel like we all want to believe this and that makes sense, but ND won more games than only a few other programs during the BK days and his recruiting never took off.

I’ve followed recruiting since the early 2000s, and winning, playoffs, championship games never resulted in the elite classes that Georgia and Bama stack year after year. A handful of elite recruits, sure. But again, the elites get those kids every single class.

As hard as it is to admit, there’s a vast majority of elite kids that have no interest in the likes of ND.

That means we, at best, have a punchers chance at winning a NC, but it basically takes the stars aligning.

The only way we recruit at a top level is to evaluate and find the diamonds. I have no issue with taking development players early, then moving on when they don’t take the next step.

Hmmm. Real talk.

Considering we're discussing a process that is essentially 365/24/7.

Gotta have those lightning rods, though. Gotta.

Thank you for saying this. I'm sorry for all the polish jokes I've told for years. Like this one,

A man walks into a bar and says to the bartender, "Do you want to hear a Polak joke?"

"Sure", says the bartender. "But first, you should know that I'm Polish, the cop drinking in the corner over there is Polish, the bouncer is Polish, and so are those two wrestlers across the room. So are you sure you still want to tell the joke?"

"Nevermind," says the man, "I don't want to have to explain it 5 times"

I’m sick of the saying “it is what it is” I’ll start glassing people over it. 😆

Lack of chatter about another RB is pretty amazing. Assuming the staff are working on a flip and just leaving our “insiders” out of it just like w Hebert. I mean we learned about Gideon from another teams site lmao.

Nice to see the QB & OL flip this week and I feel confident in NOB and Faraimo. Are there any other RB's or WR's out there or is ND looking to flip? I would go after WR Hall, if he is open to talking to ND.

People like to whine about what we have to offer to WRs? I’d go and plunder all the pass catchers committed to Oklahoma and Michigan right now.
