He also hasn’t covered Notre Dame as a full-time job since about 2017. I’d be surprised if he spends seven days a year on/around campus. He has no sources and it’s pretty obvious. He basically just watches the games on TV like the rest of us.
Sampson, I actually like, but sharing that podcast with Fortuna feels like an act of charity on his part more than an exercise in good journalism.

All he does is tweet the contents of press releases

I’ve always liked Pete. He’s not a ND grad or some university fanboy.

I still like Pete. While at times he comes off as a negative Nancy he is very real and gives his honest take. He’s obviously putting way too much trust in that random source that leaked the Minchey information (fake news) and is seeing the move as despite. He’s definitely not an x’s o’s guys and doesn’t claim to be.

I honestly don't know why I felt a sense of relief, because I trusted the staff to make the informed decision about who would prepare this team to win football games.

But I have a good feeling we haven't seen a raw talent like Carr since Clausen, as others have said. Sure, there will be growing pains and probably a few throws he will want back. But having a gunslinger in this offense will be so exciting, our WR depth finally seems like we have the weapons to support a QB.

I guess it just feels like we are finally saying as a program: "We have the supporting cast...lets go with the guy with a higher ceiling" for a change, as opposed to the higher floor. (Not saying Minchey isn't very talented, but again, Carr's arm talent is undeniable). Hope it all clicks for him and this offense.
Well said brother

I like Pete too. I like to bust his ball.
(I do not like Liverpool though)

I’m a big ISD fan, but they have been beating their drum that Minchey outplayed Carr in spring and they were the first to report it, then Minchey outplayed Carr in the fall and they were the first to report it……. Carr wins the job and MF posts a thread that he’s not surprised by the decision.

Not a great look, but I've been following ND beat writers since Faust and following ND personalities online since before the web, and I'll take Mike Frank over anybody. Not only did he provide great info last I knew, but he was a quality human being, unlike Driskell/Roberts/Singer. My only complaint is his podcast is a snoozefest, though I can't think of better alternatives.

It really feels like Freeman was fed up with things leaking and went hard on whoever was tapped into the leaks.

Feels like reporters asked, "Coach Freeman, could you give us anything on which way the QB battle is going to go?"

To which he replied:

Feds = reporters

I only listen to his podcast but Frank always says, “we don’t see what goes on except for a few practices”. ISD has never seemslike guys that report stuff just for clicks. Doesn’t mean they’re never wrong but they do seem to want what’s best for the program. Don’t listen to anyone else on the best so it’s hard to compare the. To the rest.

Since every media member has the same take it has to be a source they all have and they read the situation wrong. Everything the guys here have said was right. Hansen put out a piece on blue and gold pretty much where the guy told him what the guys here had been saying the entire time. So it seems like most guys weren't talking to the beat til it was announced and whoever was talking to them this last week didn't give solid info and it spread like wild fire

Anything good?
Well - a poster shared a link to Pete / Fortuna's pod
"its a good listen!" - OP (almost no one agreed)
The thread makes fun of OP.
Then Pete comments saying they almost named the pod "Domes on Domers" (which they bring up all the time)
And multiple people then outright told Pete to "Get a cohost worth a damn"

so, 247 is doing well

The new NDNation
(god, has anyone checked on them?)

NDNation is fine for the time being. They’ll have to wait until the 11:00 news or tomorrow’s newspaper to find out Carr was named QB over Minchey.

How’s Jerboski? Isn’t he a big Minchey guy?

Any talk about the DTs behind Dawson / Onye / Rubio? Gonna be a big hole there in 2026. Hopefully Sevillano, Mukam, and Hughes take a step + Hinish provides some good depth for another year, but a transfer (or 2) seems likely there.

I heard Sevillano has been getting some burn in practice. Mukam is really an enigma, because we keep hearing how great he is in practice, yet he doesn't seem to be threatening for reps.

It's amazing to me how many dismiss Hinish. He was probably our best defensive lineman in the playoffs and was at a minimum in the top 2-3. I wasn't super high on him out of high school, but he's become a really good D Tackle.
